Kelvin Sampson and Houston have added another big piece to the future, landing a commitment from four-star forward Beau Daniels, according to On3’s Joe Tipton on Monday.
Daniels, a 6-foot-8 forward, picked the Cougars over Auburn, Boston College and Oklahoma State, among others. He arrives as one of the more intriguing prospects in the class of 2027, bringing rare length and a reputation that already travels with him.
The senior at Iowa United Prep is originally from Hyattsville, Maryland, and spent last summer with Team Durant on the Nike EYBL circuit. In five games at Peach Jam, he put up 10.4 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.
Daniels also played the 2025-26 high school season at Montverde Academy in Florida before later announcing plans to transfer to Iowa United Prep.
What makes him stand out is the frame. Daniels is listed as one of the lengthiest players in the class, with a 7-foot-2 wingspan, and he’s been recognized as one of the most physically gifted defenders in the country.
His game has kept moving forward, too. Over the course of his high school career, Daniels has made major strides on offense, especially when working inside the paint, where he’s at his most efficient.
For Houston, the commitment gives Sampson his third pledge in the class of 2027 and pushes the Cougars to an early No. 1 spot in the recruiting rankings. Daniels joins four-star guard Darrell Davis and four-star guard Oneal Delancy in the class.
