Correas Blast Seals Astros Sweep Over Red Sox

Carlos Correa's pivotal home run propels the Astros to a decisive sweep over the Red Sox, extending winning and losing streaks for both teams.

In an impressive display of power and resilience, the Houston Astros completed a three-game sweep over the Boston Red Sox with a 6-4 victory. Carlos Correa was the hero of the night, launching a three-run homer that put the Astros ahead, while Christian Vázquez added a solo shot to extend the lead.

This win marks the Astros' fifth consecutive victory, contrasting sharply with Boston's five-game losing streak since their opening day triumph.

Roman Anthony tried to spark a late comeback for the Red Sox, hitting a solo homer off Bryan Abreu to start the ninth inning. However, Abreu quickly regained control, striking out the next three batters to secure his first save of the season.

Houston's starting pitcher, Mike Burrows, bounced back from a rocky debut. He allowed just two runs on five hits over five innings, earning his first win with the Astros following an offseason trade from Pittsburgh.

The game was locked in a tie during the fifth inning when Jose Altuve singled, and Yordan Alvarez took a hit by pitch. With two outs and a 1-2 count, Correa delivered his clutch homer, sending an off-speed pitch into the left-field seats to make it 5-2.

Garrett Crochet, who had been sharp in his season debut, struggled against Houston. He gave up six hits and five runs-four earned-over five innings.

Vázquez added to the Astros' cushion in the seventh with a solo home run off Danny Coulombe, making it 6-2.

The Red Sox showed some fight in the later innings. Wilyer Abreu hit his third home run of the season, a solo shot in the eighth, narrowing the gap to 6-3. Earlier, Willson Contreras' RBI single had given Boston an early lead in the first inning.

Houston responded swiftly. Yordan Alvarez doubled and was driven home by Isaac Paredes, who tied the game. Correa reached on a Trevor Story error, setting the stage for Christian Walker's RBI single that put the Astros ahead 2-1.

Boston managed to tie it again in the second when Isiah Kiner-Falefa scored on Jarren Duran's groundout, but it was Houston's night to shine as they continued their winning streak.
