Rasheed Walker, the Panthers' newly signed offensive tackle, found himself in a legal tangle earlier this year. On January 23, Walker was arrested by New York City’s Port Authority Police at LaGuardia Airport, charged with firearm possession due to lack of proper credentials. However, Walker recently announced that these charges are expected to be dismissed, according to ESPN's David Newton.
The situation stemmed from Walker's misunderstanding about traveling with a licensed firearm. His attorney explained that the firearm was registered in Wisconsin during Walker's tenure with the Packers, and Walker was unaware of the restrictions on carrying it in a locked box while traveling. Initially, he faced two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm.
Walker, now 25, has made a name for himself on the field. In 2020, he earned an honorable mention for All-Big Ten honors and was picked by the Packers in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, coming out of Penn State.
After completing his four-year rookie contract worth $3,740,873, which included an $80,873 signing bonus, Walker entered free agency for the first time. The Panthers saw potential and signed him to a one-year, $10 million deal.
In the 2025 season, Walker was a reliable presence for the Packers, appearing in 17 games and starting 16 at tackle. Pro Football Focus ranked him as the 53rd tackle out of 84 qualifying players, showcasing his solid performance on the offensive line.
