Green Bay Packers safety Xavier McKinney may not have matched his 2024 heroics, but he’s still a force to be reckoned with in the NFL. After a standout year where he was First Team All-Pro and nearly led the league in interceptions, McKinney's 2025 performance saw him earn Second Team All-Pro honors. Even in what some might call a "down year," his Pro Football Focus (PFF) grade of 81.3 placed him eighth among 98 safeties, a testament to his consistent excellence.
McKinney’s prowess keeps him among the elite safeties in the league. He landed at No. 66 overall in PFF’s top 101 rankings, sharing the spotlight with fellow Packers stars Jordan Love and Micah Parsons.
As the fifth-ranked safety, McKinney's 77.4 season grade underscores his high-level play, even if his interception count dipped to two. But numbers only tell part of the story.
Despite fewer interceptions, McKinney excelled in other crucial defensive areas. His nine pass breakups tied for second among safeties, showcasing his ability to disrupt plays.
Opposing quarterbacks targeting him struggled, posting a passer rating of just 60.1, the ninth-lowest among his peers. His tackling was another highlight, with 107 tackles marking the second-best season of his career, just shy of his personal best with the Giants in 2023.
His efficiency shone through, with only five missed tackles, ranking 11th-fewest.
Ahead of McKinney in the rankings were some of the league’s top talents: Baltimore’s Kyle Hamilton, Jacksonville’s Antonio Johnson, the Chargers’ Derwin James, and Houston’s Jalen Pitre. Yet, McKinney’s all-around game, marked by his ability to read plays and make crucial stops, keeps him firmly in the conversation as one of the top safeties in football.
