Rome Doubs’ Future in Green Bay Uncertain After Emotional Postseason Message

The 2025 season ended in heartbreak for the Packers, who fell apart in the NFC Wild Card Round against the rival Chicago Bears. Now comes the offseason reckoning, and Doubs is one of the biggest decisions looming for the front office. His rookie deal is nearing its end, and the question is simple but significant: will Green Bay pay to keep him?
Doubs added some fuel to the speculation with a reflective Instagram post on Thursday. Alongside a carousel of photos from his time in Green Bay, the wide receiver wrote:

It wasn’t a farewell outright, but it sure sounded like a player preparing for what comes next.
Drafted in the fourth round back in 2022 out of Nevada, Doubs has steadily carved out a bigger role in Green Bay’s offense. And in what might have been his final season in Titletown, he delivered his best year yet. Doubs led the team in receptions (55) and receiving yards (724), while also tying for the team lead in touchdown catches (6) - sharing that honor with Christian Watson and tight end Tucker Kraft.
Those numbers don’t just speak to his production - they speak to his value. And that’s where things get tricky for the Packers.
According to Spotrac, Doubs’ projected market value sits at $48.012 million over four years. That’s $12 million annually - a significant jump from the rookie contract he signed back in 2022, which totaled $4.34 million over four years. It’s a well-earned raise, but one that Green Bay will have to weigh carefully.
The Packers already have a crowded and talented receiver room. Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Matthew Golden, Savion Williams, and Dontayvion Wicks are all under contract for 2026 - and none of them are set to earn more than $7 million next season. That makes Doubs’ potential price tag stand out even more.
Still, Doubs brings something that’s hard to quantify: consistency. In a young offense that’s still growing around quarterback Jordan Love, Doubs has been a reliable target and a steady presence. He’s not the flashiest name in the room, but he’s been one of the most dependable.
Whether that’s enough for Green Bay to make a financial commitment remains to be seen. But if Doubs has played his last down in a Packers uniform, he leaves behind a solid legacy - and a wide receiver corps that’s better for having had him in it.
