The Green Bay Packers are in the midst of a coaching reshuffle, and the quarterback room is the latest to feel the ripple effect. With Sean Mannion heading to Philadelphia to become the Eagles' new offensive coordinator, Green Bay now has a vacancy at quarterbacks coach - and they’re moving quickly to fill it.
Enter Connor Senger, a name that might not be on every fan’s radar just yet, but one that’s gaining traction in NFL circles. According to reports, both the Packers and the Bills are set to interview Senger for their QB coach openings. And there’s a lot to like about what he brings to the table.
Senger’s coaching résumé may not be long, but it’s already packed with substance. From 2023 to 2025, he worked his way up the Arizona Cardinals’ offensive staff, holding titles like offensive quality control coach, assistant quarterbacks coach, and pass game specialist.
Notably, he’s already had a hand in calling plays - he’s currently doing just that at the East-West Shrine Bowl while also coaching wide receivers. That kind of versatility and trust from peers speaks volumes.
At just 30 years old, Senger’s rise has been rapid, and it’s not hard to see why. He’s earned respect inside NFL buildings for his football acumen and ability to connect with players. His time in Arizona overlapped with new Packers defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, which could help smooth the transition if he ends up in Green Bay.
There’s also a hometown connection that shouldn’t be overlooked. Senger is a Wisconsin native - born in West Allis and a product of Milwaukee’s high school football scene before playing college ball at Wisconsin. That local tie adds a layer of familiarity and potential comfort, both for Senger and for the Packers organization.
Of course, there are questions. Senger hasn’t held a full-time quarterbacks coach role in the NFL yet.
But Green Bay has shown it's willing to bet on upside - they did the same with Mannion, who had no coaching experience before joining the staff and quickly climbed the ranks. That gamble paid off, and the Packers could be looking to strike gold again.
What makes Senger an intriguing candidate isn’t just his résumé - it’s the results. Even with Kyler Murray sidelined for most of the season, the Cardinals managed to finish seventh in the league in passing yards per game (232.6) and tied for sixth in passing touchdowns (29).
Veteran Jacoby Brissett led the charge, throwing for over 3,300 yards and 23 touchdowns. That kind of production, on a 3-14 team no less, speaks to a staff that found ways to scheme success despite adversity - and Senger was a part of that.
The Packers are in a critical phase of quarterback development. Jordan Love has shown real growth, and Malik Willis has taken steps forward as well.
Whoever steps into the QB coach role will be tasked with continuing that upward trajectory. Senger, with his recent track record and fresh perspective, fits the mold of what head coach Matt LaFleur has leaned into: young, innovative minds who can connect with players and evolve with the modern game.
Keep an eye on this one. Senger’s profile checks a lot of boxes - local roots, rising reputation, and proven adaptability. If Green Bay is looking for the next Mannion-type success story, they may not have to look much further.
