Packers Rookie Just Added To Green Bays Defensive Statement Night

Rookie Brandon Cisse made an impactful debut against the Cowboys, marking a promising start to his NFL career with a pivotal interception.

Brandon Cisse wasted little time making his mark in the NFL.

The rookie cornerback came up with his first career interception on Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys, jumping on a chance after CeeDee Lamb slipped on his route and taking away a Dak Prescott pass. It was a timely play in a first half that had already tilted sharply in Green Bay’s favor, with the Packers up 17-0 at the time of writing.

Cisse, 21, entered the league as the No. 52 overall pick in the 2026 draft. He started his college career at North Carolina State before moving to South Carolina, where he put together a productive 2025 season.

The turnover came during a chaotic stretch for Prescott. He had already been picked off twice in the first half, and the game had three interceptions on four drives. Linebacker Dee Winters got the first one, then Evan Williams added another just over two minutes later after Jordan Love nearly threw a pick-six that was overturned when the Cowboys defender was ruled to have been touched down by Matthew Golden.

A few minutes after that, Prescott went back to Lamb, only for the receiver to lose his footing. Cisse pounced, delivering the first interception of his pro career.

It was Prescott’s second pick of the night, and both of them came with Dallas inside the 30-yard line.

For Cisse, the takeaway also snapped a long wait for another interception. His previous one came on Sept. 27, 2025, against the Kentucky Wildcats. In college, he finished with two interceptions, with the other arriving on Nov. 4, 2023, against the Miami Hurricanes.

At halftime at Lambeau Field, Cisse had two total tackles, both solo, along with two pass deflections.

Green Bay’s defense, rebuilt under new defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, has been flying around all night and giving the Cowboys fits. The unit has followed up its win over the Chicago Bears with another sharp performance, and Prescott’s struggles against the Packers have continued into Week 6. There’s still time left for Dallas to rally, but so far this has been a defensive masterclass, with Cisse right in the middle of it.

Packers Fans Have Every Reason To Be Fed Up With This Rule

Week 6 gave Packers fans another reason to grumble about the NFLs roughing-the-passer standard, and it came on a play that looked like it should have swung momentum the other way. On a Dallas drop back, Green Bay got what appeared to be a key turnover, only for the sequence to be undone by a roughing-the-passer flag that immediately reignited the familiar argument over how the league applies the rule.

The frustration was especially sharp because it was not an isolated moment. A similar call also surfaced in the Chiefs game the same week, and both penalties erased interceptions in plays that had the feel of game-changing snaps. Green Bay still won, but the broader issue lingered afterward, since fans were left wondering why the league keeps turning potentially decisive defensive plays into discussion points instead of takeaways. Dak Prescott Took A Scary Hit And Green Bay Capitalized

Dak Prescott absorbed a heavy shot to the ribs at Lambeau Field, the kind of hit that briefly quiets a stadium and leaves everyone watching to see how a quarterback responds. Packers linebacker Zaire Franklin delivered the blow, and Prescott was slow to get up before staying in the game, a sign of how physical the afternoon had become in Green Bay.

Prescott later said he was winded, and the Cowboys kept him on the field as the game moved on. He did not go for x-rays after the hit, and the next snap brought an interception, with Prescott appearing affected the rest of the way as Green Bay kept pressing its advantage. [Read more 🡒]

Packers Fans Immediately Feared The Worst After Tucker Kraft Went Down

A tense first half in Dallas delivered the kind of moment Packers fans dread, when Tucker Kraft went down after taking a hit to the knee and had to make his way to the bench while limping. The injury came as Green Bay tried to keep its offense moving, and the sight of one of Jordan Loves trusted targets walking off with a leg issue immediately shifted attention away from the scoreboard.

For now, the only thing clear is that the Packers are waiting for more information once the game reaches halftime, with the severity of Krafts injury still not known. Amid that uncertainty, Love did have reason to single out Matthew Golden, whose play on offense stood out in a first half that could have used a little more calm and a lot less concern. [Read more 🡒]
