It wasn’t his sharpest outing, and the turnovers proved costly in a game where every possession mattered. That said, there were still flashes - including a late second-quarter drive that gave the Packers a brief lead heading into halftime.
With just under 90 seconds left in the first half, Love connected with tight end Luke Musgrave for a 16-yard gain. On the same play, Broncos defensive end Zach Allen was flagged for roughing the passer - a penalty that tacked on 15 extra yards and gave Green Bay a golden opportunity deep in Denver territory. The Packers capitalized with a 35-yard field goal just before the break, taking a 16-14 lead into the locker room.
That roughing the passer call also put Allen under the microscope for potential league discipline. Under NFL rules, a first-time violation can carry a $17,389 fine, while a second offense in the same season bumps it up to $23,186.
But when the NFL released its Week 15 game day accountability report, Allen’s name was nowhere to be found. The only Bronco fined was safety Talanoa Hufanga, who was hit with an $11,593 penalty for unnecessary roughness.
Now sitting at 9-4-1, the Packers are still very much in the thick of the NFC North race, but the margin for error is shrinking. Love and company will look to bounce back quickly in a crucial Saturday night showdown on the road against the 10-4 Chicago Bears. With both teams jockeying for the division lead, it’s shaping up to be one of the most pivotal matchups of the season.
As for the Broncos, they continue to roll. At 12-2, they’ve locked in as one of the league’s most consistent forces, and they’ll look to keep the momentum going when they host the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 16.
