Green Bay is still waiting on Micah Parsons, but the latest sign out of practice at least points in the right direction.
Matt Schneidman reported on X that Parsons was on the side doing “some fairly strenuous running” while wearing “some sort of wrap/brace on his left knee.” Schneidman also noted that LaFleur said Parsons “made progress last week but wasn’t ready to practice.”
That’s not a return date, and it doesn’t change the expectation that Parsons will miss Week 5. But for a Packers team that has been searching for a lift, even a small step matters.
Matt LaFleur has stressed that the issue is not Parsons’ effort. As he said, “The guy is working his butt off to be out there,” adding, “We’ve made some ground over the last week, but where and when he’ll be available, time will tell. Looking forward to that day.”
LaFleur made a similar point after Green Bay’s 17-14 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, calling Parsons a “generational talent” and again saying, “The guy is working his butt off to be out there, and I think we've made some ground in the last week.
“Where and when he'll be available, time will tell. But certainly, [we’re] looking forward to that day.”
Brian Gutekunst has also sounded patient but upbeat about the situation. The Packers GM said, “We have a pretty good idea once we get out of that four-game window that we’re going to be pretty close,” and added, “As you guys have heard me say, I’m going to be pretty cautious with that.
We’ve got a big investment there. He’s really important to what we’re trying to do.
To accomplish the goals we want to late in the year, he’s going to need to be at his best. So, I want to make sure that happens.”

Why Packers Fans Still Talk About What No. 89 Came To Mean
Before it was attached to memorable catches and familiar Sunday moments, No. 89 carried a different kind of Green Bay weight. The number has been worn by a few recognizable Packers over the years, including Mark Chmura and James Jones, but the deeper thread in the jerseys history runs through a linebacker who helped define one of the franchises most dominant eras.
Dave Robinson arrived as a first-round pick in 1963 and became part of the force behind three consecutive NFL championships, plus two Super Bowl wins. His place in Packers history was cemented long ago with Hall of Fame recognition in Green Bay and later in Canton, which is why fans still bring his name up whenever the conversation turns to the best player to ever wear that number. Packers Rivalry Game Just Got More Complicated For Sunday
Caleb Williams return to practice Friday added a layer of uncertainty to an already charged NFC North matchup, and it matters plenty to the Packers as Sunday approaches. The Chicago quarterback had missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, leaving the Bears to lean on Tyson Bagent, who stepped in last week and helped guide them to a win over the New York Jets.
Williams is now listed as questionable, which leaves Chicago with a late call to make on its most important position. If he is not ready to go, Bagent would get the nod again, giving Green Bay a very different look to prepare for and turning an already familiar rivalry game into one with a little more suspense. Packers Backfield Suddenly Carries More Pressure Into Bears Showdown
Green Bays backfield already had a lot riding on it after a sluggish opening month, and the problem only deepened this week. Through four games, the Packers have struggled to get anything going on the ground, sitting at the bottom of the league in rushing production, and the situation got more complicated when Chris Brooks was unable to take part in recent practices.
To help stabilize the depth chart before the Bears matchup, the Packers turned to Pierre Strong Jr., bringing in a runner who has NFL experience with the Patriots and Browns. Strong gives Green Bay another option behind the lead backs, but he has been away from regular-season action for a while, which leaves the Packers with a familiar question heading into Sunday: can this group find enough footing to keep the offense balanced?
