The Packers’ offensive line is at the point where simply rolling it back may not be enough.
Injuries have thinned the group, and the players still standing haven’t exactly locked things down. That has opened the door to a different kind of fix, one that Justis Mosqueda of Acme Packing Company has laid out as a possible reshuffle Green Bay has not seriously tried.
His idea is straightforward: Jager Burton at left guard, Anthony Belton at right guard, and either John Williams or Travis Glover at right tackle. The biggest twist is Belton, who has struggled in his current spot but, in Mosqueda’s view, would look far better inside.
“Anthony Belton is still a people mover, but he can’t hang in pass protection at tackle when he’s going against wider edges who build up steam before the point of contact,” wrote the Packers insider.
“He’s a guard playing tackle. The coaching staff needs to fix this.”
Burton, meanwhile, is the one piece Mosqueda wants to leave alone. The Packers had Donovan Jennings and Aaron Banks ahead of him, but injuries to both players forced the rookie into action.
Jennings struggled in Week 1, Banks hurt his toe, and then Jennings was injured after coming back. Burton stepped in as the third option and did enough to get another start in Week 3, which makes continuity a sensible reason to keep him at left guard.
The right tackle spot is where the idea gets trickier. Williams entered the NFL as a seventh round pick in the 2025 draft, but injury wiped out his rookie year before he could even appear in a preseason game.
He did get on the field for all three preseason games in 2026, though only at left tackle. Asking him to flip to right tackle for his first career start would be a major leap.
Glover feels like the more realistic option. The sixth round pick from 2024 has more experience on the right side, with nine rookie snaps there and 147 preseason snaps at right tackle, including 38 this year. If Green Bay went with Mosqueda’s setup, Glover would likely slide to right tackle while Belton kicks inside to guard, trading some tackle strength for a better fit at right guard.
There’s still a bigger picture question hanging over the group, too: what happens if Sean Rhyan misses time with his hand injury, or if Aaron Banks returns? For the moment, though, the Packers have a line in flux and not many clean answers. That makes this configuration worth a look.

Packers May Be Forcing Brian Gutekunst Into A Move He Can't Avoid
The early-season outlook on Green Bays offensive line has already become one of the biggest pressure points on the roster, with injuries and uneven play forcing the issue sooner than expected. Protecting Jordan Love is the obvious priority, and it is also the kind of problem that can quickly spill into the bigger picture if the Packers are serious about staying in the playoff mix.
Brian Gutekunst is the one staring at the decision now, and the list of available veteran help gives him a few possible ways to steady the group. Mekhi Becton, Jack Conklin and Kevin Zeitler all stand out as proven free-agent options who could make sense if Green Bay decides the current answer is not good enough, leaving the front office to balance urgency against whatever it takes to get a deal done. Josh Jacobs Situation Just Got More Serious For The Packers
The NFL has taken a more active role in Josh Jacobs off-field case, filing a Freedom of Information Act request with the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department to seek previously sealed evidence. For the Packers, that turns a troubling legal matter into something with broader league scrutiny, and it keeps Jacobs status tied to developments well beyond the practice field.
Jacobs previously pleaded no contest to battery and criminal damage to property involving his girlfriend, with police reports describing an incident in which he allegedly threw her to the ground and damaged her cellphone. The league does not expect him back imminently, and any possible return now appears to be tied to a commissioner exempt-list stay that could run five to eight games, leaving Green Bay to wait on a resolution that is becoming harder to ignore. Packers Just Caught A Needed Break In The Bears Rivalry
Caleb Williams hamstring injury has shifted the early look of the NFC North race, and it comes at a time when the Packers could use a little help anywhere they can find it. The Bears quarterback is expected to miss three to four weeks with a grade two strain, a stretch that likely takes him out of the Week 5 meeting with Green Bay and leaves Chicago navigating a key part of its schedule without the player it has been building around.
For Green Bay, the timing matters because Williams has already shown he can make life difficult for the Packers in this rivalry. His absence does not solve the issues facing the Packers, who still have plenty to clean up on their own, but it does remove a familiar challenge from the matchup and could alter how the Bears approach the next few weeks. The Packers will take the break, but they still have work to do before it means anything. [Read more 🡒]
