Packers Make Their Josh Jacobs Stance Clear Amid Serious Allegations

The Green Bay Packers face a challenging decision as new allegations against running back Josh Jacobs complicate his future with the team.

The Green Bay Packers are standing by Josh Jacobs while the NFL sorts through a new round of abuse allegations tied to the running back.

Newly released police records from the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department say three more women contacted law enforcement with historical domestic and physical abuse allegations. According to the records, the women described separate incidents of physical, verbal and domestic abuse that took place between 2021 and 2023. The NFL has confirmed it is widening its ongoing investigation into Jacobs to examine the newly surfaced claims.

For now, Green Bay is not making a roster move. The Packers are keeping Jacobs on the team and expect him to remain with the club as the league continues its review.

“We’re going to allow the NFL to do its process, but I would anticipate him being a member of us moving forward,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Monday. “That’s really all I have to speak on.”

LaFleur also addressed Jacobs’ alleged handcuffed celebration after a touchdown.

This is the second time this year Jacobs has faced the possibility of landing on the NFL’s Commissioner’s list. The three-time Pro Bowler missed six games this season while on the commissioner’s exempt list after his May arrest. He later pleaded no contest to misdemeanor counts of battery and criminal damage to property.

Jacobs denied the new allegations in a lengthy statement released by his lawyers on Sunday.

Since returning from the commissioner’s exempt list in Week 7 of the 2026 NFL season, Jacobs has scored three times. He has 75 rushing yards, along with one rushing touchdown and two receiving scores.

Packers May Face A Backfield Reset They Can't Ignore

The 2026 NFL trade deadline is already drawing attention, and Jordan Schultz has said he expects it to be one of the busier ones around the league. For the Packers, the intrigue centers on Jonathan Taylor, a player who has spent his entire career with the Colts while Indianapolis continues reshaping its roster and moving on from other established names. Green Bays interest makes sense on paper, especially with Taylor carrying a strong off-field reputation and a track record that has kept him among the leagues most recognizable backs.

The timing only adds to the conversation in Green Bay, where the backfield has become a more complicated topic than it looked a year ago. Josh Jacobs has dealt with legal issues tied to domestic dispute allegations, and the Packers are now being linked to a player whose profile is very different from the one they already have in place. If the Colts keep listening and the deadline market heats up as expected, this is the kind of situation that could force Green Bay to decide how aggressive it wants to be about a reset. Packers May Have A New Linebacker Problem In The Best Way

The Packers have managed to keep their defense on track even while dealing with injuries at linebacker, and the next stretch could say a lot about how deep that room really is. With Edgerrin Cooper and Zaire Franklin sidelined, Isaiah McDuffie and Tyron Hopper have been asked to carry more of the load, and the unit has held up well enough to keep Green Bay from feeling the full weight of those absences.

Hopper, in particular, has started to look like more than a fill-in. His recent impact showed up all over the field, from tackles to disruption in coverage and even splash plays in the backfield, which is the kind of production that can complicate a coachs rotation once everyone is healthy again. Franklin is expected back soon, but if Hopper keeps stacking strong performances, the Packers may have a new kind of linebacker question on their hands. [Read more 🡒]

Micah Parsons Could Make Green Bays Defense Even More Dangerous

Micah Parsons is getting closer to a return, and the timing could hardly be better for a Packers defense already playing at an elite level. Green Bay brought Parsons in during August 2025, then had to wait while he worked back from the knee injury that ended his season in December. Even without him, the Packers have been disruptive all year, sitting atop the NFL in sacks and interceptions and showing the kind of balance that can change games in a hurry.

The next stretch will tell a lot about how much more dangerous this group can become before Parsons is back in the mix. Green Bay has the Patriots and Vikings coming up before his potential return, and the possibility of adding a pass rusher of his caliber in November only raises the stakes for the rest of the league. If the defense is already this productive, the idea of it getting another impact piece back is enough to make the Packers look even tougher down the stretch. [Read more 🡒]
