Packers List Josh Jacobs as Questionable for Week 16 Showdown vs. Bears
Josh Jacobs’ status is once again up in the air heading into Week 16, as the Green Bay Packers have listed their lead back as questionable for Saturday night’s divisional clash against the Chicago Bears. The veteran running back is dealing with lingering knee and ankle issues - the same ones that had him questionable last week before he ultimately suited up and made his presence felt.
Jacobs has been battling through this knee injury for several weeks now, but he’s missed just one game all season. That kind of durability, especially at a position that takes as much punishment as running back, speaks volumes about his toughness and value to this Packers offense.
When Jacobs is on the field, he’s been productive. Through 13 games this season, he’s carried the ball 218 times for 890 yards - that’s a solid 4.1 yards per carry - and punched in 13 rushing touchdowns.
He’s also been an asset in the passing game, hauling in 33 of his 41 targets for 270 yards and a receiving score. In total, he’s accounted for 14 touchdowns, making him one of the most reliable red zone weapons in Green Bay’s arsenal.
Even when he’s not at full strength, Jacobs finds ways to contribute. Just last week against Denver, despite limited practice and a questionable tag, he logged 54.5 percent of the offensive snaps.
He finished that game with 12 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown, plus two receptions for 19 yards and another score. That’s the kind of impact the Packers have come to expect from him - even when he's not 100%.
Green Bay does have other options in the backfield, including Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks, though Brooks is also listed as questionable. But make no mistake: Jacobs is the engine of this running game. He’s played nearly 63% of the team’s offensive snaps this season, and when he’s healthy, he’s the clear workhorse.
Saturday’s matchup against Chicago could be a favorable one if Jacobs is able to go. The Bears have struggled to contain opposing ground games all season, ranking 29th in the league in yards per carry allowed. And it wasn’t long ago - Week 14, to be exact - that Jacobs ran for 86 yards and a touchdown against this same Chicago defense.
His practice participation (or lack thereof) this week is definitely something to monitor, but based on what we saw in Week 15, Jacobs doesn’t need to be at 100% to make a difference. He’s found the end zone in 10 of his 13 appearances this season, and his nose for the goal line remains one of the Packers’ most reliable offensive assets.

If Jacobs is active Saturday night, expect Green Bay to lean on him - especially in the red zone - as they look to stay alive in the NFC playoff race.
