Moore is the kind of addition that can quietly change the shape of a defense. He tried to work out a trade with the Indianapolis Colts earlier this season, but ended up being released, and somehow he still hasn’t landed with a new team as the season approaches. That’s why NFL analyst Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report has tied him to the Packers.
For Green Bay, the fit is obvious enough. The Packers are expected to have one of the league’s stronger defenses, but depth always matters over a long season, especially when injuries start piling up. Moore would give them another dependable piece in the secondary and add more punch to an already talented group.
The secondary was not always as steady as the pass rush last season, even though Green Bay was among the best teams at getting to the quarterback. Moore could help address that. Over his career, he has been one of the league’s better nickel cornerbacks, and his versatility would give the Packers more options behind the front.
His production with the Colts last season also shows why he remains attractive. Moore started seven games, appeared in 14, and finished with 55 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, one interception, and two forced fumbles.
