The Week 4 injury left his return path murky, and there’s no guarantee he gets all the way back to the player he once was.
Even so, the upside is obvious. For Green Bay, signing Hill would add insurance at a position that needs it and give the team a legitimate wild card for a midseason surge if he can return. It’s easy to picture a scenario where Hill and Micah Parsons both come back in the middle of the year and help push the Packers into the playoff picture at just the right time.
That’s the kind of move that could set Green Bay up for a real January run.
The fit gets even more interesting when you think about how Hill could be used. Putting him on the inside would give Jordan Love the most dangerous deep target of his career.
If Hill is anywhere close to his pre-injury form, the Packers would be getting one of the league’s best deep threats at a bargain price. For Hill, it would mean joining a historic franchise and catching passes from one of the NFL’s most talented young quarterbacks.
Of course, this would be a departure from the Packers’ usual approach. The front office has chosen not to make a splash in the 2026 offseason and instead lean on players returning from injury. But this is the kind of opportunity that makes too much sense to dismiss, especially with training camp approaching.
Hill could come in, continue his rehab, and work toward a clear midseason return alongside Parsons. For a roster that has already taken hits in free agency, that would be a major boost. And for an offense looking for another level, Hill could be the piece that opens it up.
