The Green Bay Packers are in the market for a new quarterbacks coach, and they may already have their sights set on a rising name in the coaching ranks. With Sean Mannion heading to Philadelphia to become the Eagles’ offensive coordinator after just one season in Green Bay, the Packers are exploring their options-and Connor Senger is firmly on their radar.
According to reports, Senger is set to interview with both the Packers and the Buffalo Bills for their quarterback coach openings. For Green Bay, this wouldn’t just be a coaching hire-it would be a homecoming of sorts. Senger is a Wisconsin native, having played high school ball at Pius XI in Milwaukee before continuing his football journey at Wisconsin-Madison and later Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Senger’s coaching path has been anything but conventional, but it’s been marked by consistent upward momentum. Right after graduating, he jumped into coaching as Wisconsin-Oshkosh’s quarterbacks coach.
From there, he spent time at Carroll University and Wisconsin-Whitewater, working with quarterbacks and running backs, respectively. Those early years in Division III laid the foundation for a rapid rise through the coaching ranks.
His first break into the Division I landscape came in 2020, when he joined North Dakota State as an offensive quality control coach. He was slated to take over as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Central Washington in 2022, a Division II program, but instead took a leap into the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals through the Bill Bidwill Coaching Fellowship.
That move turned out to be a pivotal one. Over the past three seasons with Arizona, Senger has climbed the ladder quickly: from offensive quality control coach in 2023 to assistant quarterbacks coach in 2024, and most recently, passing game coordinator in 2025. That kind of trajectory speaks volumes-not just about his football acumen, but about how well he’s regarded within the league.
Interestingly, Senger and Mannion crossed paths again recently, albeit on opposite sidelines. Senger served as the offensive coordinator for the East team in this year’s East-West Shrine Bowl, while Mannion held the same role for the West. A year earlier, Senger was the receivers coach for the West team at the same event, showing just how much his responsibilities have grown in a short time.
There’s also a bit of a built-in connection between Senger and the Packers’ new defensive coordinator, Jonathan Gannon. The two worked together during their time in Arizona, which could give Green Bay some valuable insight into Senger’s coaching style and potential fit with the staff.
Beyond the resume, though, Senger has earned strong endorsements from those who’ve worked closely with him. Eric Galko, who helped coordinate the coaching staffs for the Shrine Bowl and previously worked with Senger in the XFL, spoke highly of his ability to lead and communicate. According to Galko, the Shrine Bowl specifically requested Senger as an offensive coordinator for this year’s game-a clear sign of the trust and respect he’s built in coaching circles.
“He’s incredibly bright,” Galko said. “Whether it’s scheme, working with his position group-he’s incredibly intentional and organized.”
Galko also highlighted Senger’s ability to get an entire staff aligned for a one-week install, no small task in an all-star game setting. “He’s a future NFL offensive coordinator and probably a head coach one day.”
That’s high praise, and it paints a clear picture: Connor Senger isn’t just another name on a list-he’s a coach on the rise, and the Packers may be looking to get in on the ground floor. With a young quarterback room and a coaching staff in transition, Green Bay could be the perfect next step in Senger’s fast-moving career.
