Packers Deadline Rumor Puts Their Pass Rush In An Awkward Spot

As the NFL trade deadline approaches, both the Cowboys and Packers weigh the pursuit of Josh Sweat, with a twist of irony involving Micah Parsons' potential comeback.

With the NFL trade deadline set for November 10 at 4 p.m. ET, the rumor mill is starting to churn, and Josh Sweat has emerged as a name to watch. The Cardinals pass rusher is being tied to both the Cowboys and Packers, a twist that carries a sharp dose of Micah Parsons irony.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano recently floated the two teams as possible deadline players, with Sweat landing in the conversation for Dallas and Green Bay. Fowler wrote, “As one team exec pointed out to me Tuesday, Josh Sweat to Dallas makes a lot of sense.

He fits Dallas' profile, and the Cowboys need edge-rush help. Sweat's Cardinals won Sunday, but they are not contention-adjacent just yet.

Sweat has been linked to the Packers, too, but Green Bay has Micah Parsons returning eventually.”

That’s where the irony comes in. Those are the same two teams involved in the Micah Parsons trade, and now both could be circling another pass rusher.

For Green Bay, the simplest answer may already be on the roster. Parsons has been sidelined since last season’s ACL injury, and once he’s back, he and Lukas Van Ness would give the Packers a strong starting pairing up front. That makes the fit for Sweat a little less obvious, even if his name is in the mix.

The connection is easier to understand on the Cardinals side because former Arizona head coach Jonathan Gannon is still in the picture, which keeps the Sweat chatter alive.

Dallas, though, has a far more obvious need. The Cowboys have only eight sacks this season, and Rashan Gary and Donovan Ezeiruaku have not provided enough production off the edge.

Still, Fowler noted that a major move may not be realistic for Dallas right now. “A source told me a trade to aid the Cowboys defense is not a front-burner issue at the moment. So, Dallas will always explore a potential move, but it's quite possible the franchise holds onto whatever 2027 draft capital it has left (just three picks in the first six rounds),” Fowler added.

Whether either team actually lands a pass rusher over the next few weeks remains to be seen.

Packers WR Duo Is Forcing A Bigger NFC North Debate

The NFC North has spent the season searching for the most complete receiver pairing, and Green Bays Matthew Golden and Christian Watson have made the conversation more interesting than expected. With injuries and usage patterns shaping the rest of the division, the Packers duo has stood out in a way that goes beyond raw production, especially when compared with the Vikings Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, the Bears Romeo Odunze and Luther Burden III, and the Lions Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams.

It also helps that Green Bays receiver room has had to absorb a major early-season hit, changing how the offense has distributed targets around Jordan Love. What looked like a race between established stars now has a different feel, because the Packers have gotten steady contributions from a tandem that is forcing a bigger debate about which team actually owns the deepest and most dangerous passing game in the division. Josh Jacobs Returns As Packers Face A Huge Week 7 Decision

Josh Jacobs is back on Green Bays active roster, giving the Packers another layer to sort through as they head into a pivotal Week 7. The move comes after he had been away on the NFL commissioners exempt list while handling legal issues tied to a domestic violence incident, and his return restores a player the team has been building around when available.

Matt LaFleur has already made clear he is willing to stand behind Jacobs, framing the situation in terms of second chances and what the Packers believe the running back can still mean on the field. The football side now shifts to Green Bays immediate plans, with Jacobs expected to be available as the Packers prepare for a major divisional test. [Read more 🡒]

Packers Add Receiver As Injuries Force Another Week 7 Shuffle

Another week, another roster adjustment for Green Bay as the Packers continue to juggle their depth chart heading into Week Seven. Linebacker Zaire Franklin is set to miss Sundays game with a shin injury, but the expectation is that his absence will be brief rather than something that lingers into the back half of the season.

The bigger change comes on the receiver side, where Skyy Moore has been placed on injured reserve after suffering an ankle sprain, meaning he will be out for several weeks. To help fill the opening, Green Bay added Coleman Owen from the Indianapolis Colts practice squad and put him on the 53-man roster, another reminder that the Packers are still looking for the right mix of availability and production as injuries keep forcing shuffles.
