Packers Are Getting A Lions Offense With Real Momentum

With Jared Goff's rising NFL quarterback ranking, the Detroit Lions aim to capitalize on their momentum in the upcoming crucial clash with the Green Bay Packers.

Jared Goff’s latest numbers have earned him a noticeable bump from the NFL’s evaluators, and the timing couldn’t be better for the Detroit Lions.

Detroit is still sitting at No. 3 in the NFC North, but the offense has started to hit its stride after a solid win over the Arizona Cardinals before the bye week. Goff has been at the center of that run, and on Wednesday the NFL’s official website rewarded him with a rise to No. 4 in its quarterback rankings for Week 6. That’s a jump of two spots after the Cardinals game.

Nick Shook of the NFL’s website pointed to the efficiency that has defined Goff’s season so far, writing, "Jared Goff is quietly putting together a stellar season, torching Arizona with ease while pushing his TD-INT ratio to a perfect 12-0,".

Through five games in 2026, Goff has completed 67.0% of his passes for 1,485 yards. He’s averaging 7.8 yards per attempt and has thrown 12 touchdowns without an interception. On the ground, he has added 16 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown, and he has also lost four fumbles.

After the win over Arizona, Goff described the way Detroit fed off the back-and-forth flow of the game.

"It is a complementary football game and you could certainly feel it," Goff said, according to the Associated Press (h/t CBS). "They were playing with energy and swagger and then we were feeding off that, getting short fields, scoring and then they would multiply that."

The Lions will try to keep that momentum rolling Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.

Packers Get A Needed Lift In The Secondary Before Cowboys Test

The Packers got a bit of encouraging news in the secondary this week when Keisean Nixon returned to limited practice after missing a session with a groin issue. Head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed the discomfort but framed Nixon's return as a positive sign as Green Bay works through its injury report ahead of the Week 6 matchup with the Cowboys.

Even so, Nixon's availability for Sunday remains unsettled, and the broader picture around the defense is still a little murky. Several other Packers were limited or held out of practice for various injuries, and with the front seven also taking hits, the team is waiting on more clarity before it knows exactly what its lineup will look like in Dallas. Packers Suddenly Have More Patience With A Key O-Line Decision

Kevin Zeitler arrived in Green Bay on Sept. 30, but the veteran lineman is still working his way back into game shape before the Packers put him back on the field. In the meantime, the spot he is expected to help fortify has been handled by Travis Glover, who has stepped in for injured Jacob Monk and given the offense a workable presence on the right side.

Glovers play has not been dazzling, and the grades have reflected that, but the Packers have reason to be patient. With the offensive line holding together well enough for now, there is less urgency to force Zeitler into action before he is ready, even as the question of when he will be available again remains part of the weekly conversation. Packers Finally Near A Josh Jacobs Return With One Big Catch

Josh Jacobs is finally nearing a return to the Packers backfield after spending the first six weeks of the season on the Commissioners Exempt list. The NFL has now made him eligible to play beginning in Week 7, a development that gives Green Bay a potential boost in a backfield that has been waiting for its top runner to come back into the fold.

There is still a catch attached to the timeline, though, because Jacobs will not actually be activated until Monday after Week 6. Even then, the leagues investigation is still open, which means the situation is not fully settled and further discipline remains on the table as the Packers get ready for what could be a significant addition without complete certainty.
