Packers Add Final Piece To Special Teams Overhaul

As the Packers revamp their special teams with strategic signings and a new coordinator, a transformation is underway to boost their rank in the NFL standings.

The Green Bay Packers are making waves with some significant changes to their special teams, and fans have every reason to be optimistic. After last year's struggles, the team has brought in Cam Achord as their new special teams coordinator. Achord steps in following Rich Bisaccia's unexpected departure to join Clemson's coaching staff.

Achord, known for his successful stint with the New England Patriots, is tasked with revamping the Packers' special teams unit. In his previous role, Achord helped the Patriots achieve impressive Pro Football Focus grades, ranking 11th and 6th in his first two years.

To bolster the unit, the Packers have re-signed key players like Nick Niemann and Kristian Welch, and brought in Skyy Moore to enhance their punt and kick return game. Moore's addition is expected to inject some much-needed energy and skill into the return game.

Another important move was the re-signing of Arron Mosby. While not a headline-grabbing decision, Mosby has carved out a crucial role on special teams.

Last season, after starting on the practice squad, Mosby worked his way up to the active roster, appearing in 12 games and logging 221 special teams snaps. His seven tackles on special teams mark an improvement from the previous year, showcasing his growing impact.

The Packers' special teams allowed 25.8 yards per kick return and 10.6 yards per punt return last season, ranking in the middle of the pack. Achord's challenge will be to elevate these numbers, drawing on his experience as an assistant special teams coordinator in New York.

With the core team intact and Moore's fresh talent, the Packers are poised for improvement. However, the kicker position remains a hot topic. The battle between McManus and Lucas Havrisik will unfold during minicamp and training camp, adding another layer of intrigue to the Packers' offseason.

This blend of strategic hires and player acquisitions signals a promising new era for Green Bay's special teams, and fans should be eager to see how these changes translate on the field.
