The Green Bay Packers handled the Carolina Panthers, 27-19, at Lambeau Field on Thursday to pick up their fourth win in five games, but Josh Jacobs became the night’s flashpoint after his touchdown celebration drew immediate backlash online.
Green Bay had already put together a strong opening stretch and carried a 20-10 lead into halftime. Jacobs helped build that cushion with a one-yard touchdown run at the 6:33 mark of the second quarter, giving the Packers more breathing room in what turned into a double-digit halftime edge.
What happened next sparked the reaction. After crossing the goal line, Jacobs mimed being handcuffed while his teammates celebrated with him in the end zone.
The gesture came with plenty of baggage. In May, the 28-year-old running back was arrested at his home in Wisconsin on allegations of domestic disturbance, battery, and damage to property tied to an argument with his then-girlfriend.
Fans wasted no time piling on over the celebration.
“No way Josh Jacobs just did a handcuff celebration after being arrested for domestic violence. This dude has zero shame 🤦♂️,” said @ghetto_gronk.
“Shouldn't even be back on the field!” added @GrantMcMullen10.
“WTF, Packers. This is a big FU to the commissioner, organization, and fans. Keep celebrating domestic violence,” wrote @JJ1plw.
“I hope the Packers cut him,” commented @rubydog556.
“Stay classy, Green Bay,” posted @chisportsross.
“I wanna give the benefit of the doubt and assume he isn't this tone deaf to do this s***, but IDK, it's pretty egregious,” stated @Jordan10VEOnTop.
Jacobs later pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges last month and sat out the first six weeks of the season after being sanctioned by the NFL.
The Packers brought him in on a four-year, $48 million contract extension in 2024, and they’ll next take on the New England Patriots in Week 9.

Jordan Love Is Carrying A Packers Problem That Could Get Bigger
Jordan Love kept the Packers moving in a 27-19 win over the Panthers, throwing for 288 yards and three touchdowns while also dealing with the kind of game that has become familiar in Green Bay. The passing game has been doing a lot of the heavy lifting, and Loves command of it has helped the Packers keep winning even when the offense is not finding much balance on the ground.
The larger concern is what that imbalance means going forward, especially with Josh Jacobs back in the mix but not yet able to change the shape of the attack. Green Bay is winning in a way almost no team has in modern football, but the run game still looks stuck, and if it stays that way, Love may keep carrying a burden that only gets heavier as the season goes on. Micah Parsons Trade Debate Just Got Reignited Again In Green Bay
Micah Parsons has not taken the field for the Packers this season while he continues recovering from the torn ACL he suffered in December 2025, but his blockbuster move from Dallas is still drawing fresh attention. Green Bay landed the pass rusher in a deal that sent Kenny Clark and two future first-round picks to the Cowboys, a trade that already carried plenty of scrutiny because of the price tag and the long wait before Parsons can make an impact.
The latest round of debate picked up again after Terrence Parsons Jr. publicly took aim at Dallas, arguing the Cowboys came up short in the return they got for his brother. His comments, paired with a separate trade involving Jeffery Simmons, have only kept the conversation alive around whether Dallas maximized the deal or left more value on the table for Green Bay to chase down once Parsons is healthy. Micah Parsons' Packers Comeback Is Finally Taking A Real Step
Micah Parsons long road back is finally inching toward a more visible phase. The Packers have been carefully managing his recovery after the ACL injury that cost him the entire 2026 season, and head coach Matt LaFleur has already signaled optimism that practice could be coming soon as Green Bay keeps its foot off the gas and lets the rehab process dictate the pace.
For a player of Parsons caliber, getting back on the field for practice is the first real checkpoint after months away from football. The bigger question now is how quickly that can lead to game action, and while the Packers are encouraged by the progress, the timetable beyond that remains unsettled. [Read more 🡒]
