Micah Parsons’ brother, Terrence Parsons Jr., drew heavy backlash on X after weighing in on the Josh Jacobs situation, saying Green Bay Packers fans and others should “gotta relax” about the running back’s future.
The reaction came after reports surfaced that the district attorney’s office prosecuting Jacobs has video of the alleged battery involving his ex-girlfriend. With that report circulating, plenty of NFL fans - including a number of Packers supporters - argued that if video exists of Jacobs assaulting a woman, he should not remain on the team.
Parsons took the opposite view. In response to a user who called for Jacobs to be cut, he wrote, “A shove? Y’all gotta relax… anger gets the best out of anyone… everyone deserves a second chance… misdemeanors at that,” Parsons wrote.
That didn’t go over well. Users on X quickly pushed back, with several directly challenging the idea that the situation should be brushed aside.
“Idk man shoving your girlfriend to the ground is kinda a huge lapse in emotion control,” one user remarked.
“Second chances and consequences are not mutually exclusive,” another pointed out.
“You telling on yourself right now. Any man that would shove a woman is a coward,” wrote a third.
“I can proudly say I’ve never shoved a woman, or shoved a woman so hard she fell and hit her head. He’s a grown ass man, act like it.”
“You shouldnt slam your girlfriend into a garage door.”
Parsons kept responding in the comments, often doubling down by calling critics names or repeating that anger can take over in the moment. “Angry is a powerful emotion and the ones we love know how to hit those buttons alotta people have trouble controlling they emotions we all know this and it be the same people talking shit,” he wrote in one response.
He also brought up the Ray Rice elevator punch while defending his stance. “I’ll never be afraid to stand on what I believe in… yall act like he sucker punched that girl this ain’t a ray rice situation never said he was right but it ain’t right calling for that man’s career,” Parsons declared.
