A little injury-report confusion turned into a joke online, and Ian Rapoport was quick to lean into it.
A social media post about Arizona Cardinals running back Jeremiyah Love sparked panic among some fans who thought they were reading about Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love instead. The mix-up made sense at a glance: the Cardinals’ Love was listed as injured, according to his head coach Mike LaFleur, and the Packers are coached by Matt LaFleur.
Rapoport cracked the joke on X, formerly Twitter, writing, “How about: “M. LaFleur says J.
Love will miss a week with a sore ankle?” Better?”
Jeremiyah Love is a rookie, while Jordan Love is now a veteran leading a Packers team trying to build toward the NFL Playoffs in 2026.
On the field, Green Bay’s preseason opener did not go smoothly. The Packers lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers and managed only nine points, while Pittsburgh’s quarterbacks were able to throw the ball “wherever they wanted.”
Matt LaFleur said the team will need to sort through the issues after the game. “We've got to go back and look at it,” Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said, per the team.
“In fairness to our guys, there's not a ton of game planning. You're playing pretty base calls when you go out there.
We'll see where the breakdowns were and see what concepts were run against us.”
Jordan Love said the reps still matter, even in the preseason.
“It's always good to just be in the game, be in that game environment. I believe as a quarterback there's so much stuff you gain just from being out there, going against a new team, some new looks,” Jordan Love said.
Green Bay’s next preseason game comes August 21 against the Denver Broncos. The Packers reached the NFL Playoffs in 2025, where they lost to the Chicago Bears.

Jordan Love Calls Out What Must Change For Packers Late In Games
Jordan Loves view of the Packers offense has shifted toward the part of games that has long defined good teams from merely dangerous ones. After last seasons disappointment, Love pointed to the difference this year as Green Bays ability to finish, a sign that the conversation around this offense is no longer just about talent or tempo, but about closing out drives and keeping its footing when the pressure climbs.
For Love, the late-game lesson is as much mental as it is schematic. He stressed the need for focus and composure when the fourth quarter tightens, and that matters for a Packers team hoping to turn a painful playoff ending into a new standard. If his mindset filters through the huddle the way the team hopes, the real test will be whether Green Bay can carry that steadiness into the moments that slipped away a year ago. [Read more 🡒]
Packers Suddenly Have A New Injury Concern After Preseason Opener
The Packers preseason opener offered an early look at where this roster stands, but it also brought fresh injury attention before the exhibition schedule has much of a chance to settle in. Green Bay dropped the game to Pittsburgh, 28-9, and the offense got a brief showing from Jordan Love, who completed three of five passes for 18 yards as the team tried to shake off the rust and sort through its early camp evaluations.
The bigger concern, though, is what came out of practice around the game. Green Bay listed two more players as not participating because of injuries, adding another layer of uncertainty to a group that is still trying to build toward the regular season. For a team that needs its depth to hold up in August, every new name on that list matters, especially when the absences start piling up this early. [Read more 🡒]
Packers O-Line Turmoil Is Making One Offseason Decision Hurt More
The Packers offensive line has become one of the more unsettled parts of their roster this summer, and that instability has a way of making last offseasons salary-cap move look even sharper in hindsight. Green Bay moved on from Elgton Jenkins, and the decision was framed as a financial necessity at the time, but the departure now sits against a backdrop of injuries and a group still trying to settle itself before the season gets rolling.
Matt LaFleur has already acknowledged the uncertainty around Aaron Banks return, and the right guard spot has only added to the sense that the unit is still searching for answers. Rookie Jacob Monk is pushing for a bigger role, giving the Packers another layer of competition on a line that can least afford confusion, and every new wrinkle only underscores how much the team has to replace after making that cap-driven choice.
