Jordan Love won’t face his brother-in-law on the field this preseason, but the family connection just got a little more interesting.
Ron Stone Jr., the younger brother of Love’s wife, Ronika, signed with the Denver Broncos on Tuesday, Aug. 25, the team announced. The timing puts him in Denver just four days after the Packers beat the Broncos 33-13 in a Week 2 preseason game on Friday night, Aug.
- Love opened that game with a touchdown drive in his lone series.
Stone, 26, practiced the same day he signed, according to the Denver Post, and he’s expected to get a look in Denver’s final preseason game this week as he tries to earn a spot on the 53-man roster for the first time. The Broncos host the Minnesota Vikings on Friday, Aug. 28, at Empower Field at Mile High.
Stone is still chasing his first NFL roster spot after a winding football path. He spent six years at Washington State before going undrafted in 2024. He then signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as a rookie free agent, but he was cut before the season and never made the practice squad.
The 6-foot-3, 257-pound defensive end spent the last two years in the United Football League. In 2026, he played in 10 games for the Columbus Aviators, one of three new franchises in the league, and recorded 5 ½ sacks and five tackles for loss. In 2025, with the Michigan Panthers, he posted 4.0 sacks, four tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in nine games.
Now he lands with a Broncos defense that was among the NFL’s best last season. Under veteran coordinator Vance Joseph, Denver finished No. 2 in total defense, No. 2 in rush defense, No. 3 in scoring defense and No. 7 in pass defense.
Stone’s ties to Love run deeper than family tree talk. He officiated Love and Ronika’s wedding in summer 2025 at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, in Dana Point, California.
In wedding photos posted on Instagram, Ronika wrote in the comments: "You were amazing! I love you so much."
He was also in attendance for last season’s Packers wild-card playoff game against the Chicago Bears, where he took family photos with Love before the game.
Football is in the bloodline, too. Stone follows his father, Ron Stone Sr., who played 13 seasons in the NFL, earned three Pro Bowl nods, and was a fourth-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in the 1993 NFL Draft. The elder Stone won two Super Bowl rings in the 1990s and later played for the New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders before retiring after the 2005 season.
Ronika and Ron Jr. are part of a larger Stone family that also includes Ronnie, Ronna and Deja.
