The New York Jets are back in the market for an offensive coordinator, and they’re eyeing a name that’s been around the NFL block more than a few times. Darrell Bevell, a veteran offensive mind with over two decades of experience, is scheduled to meet with the Jets in person on Monday as the team continues its search to revamp a unit that struggled mightily in 2025.
Bevell has already had a virtual sit-down with the Jets, but now things are getting more serious. According to league sources, the in-person interview signals genuine interest from both sides.
And if you're the Jets, it makes sense. Bevell brings a track record that’s hard to ignore.
He’s been in the league since 2000, cutting his teeth as an offensive assistant with the Packers before taking over as offensive coordinator in Minnesota in 2006. From there, he helped guide some explosive offenses in Seattle-yes, that includes the Super Bowl-winning years-and also held OC roles in Detroit and Jacksonville. Most recently, he served as the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator for the Miami Dolphins under Mike McDaniel from 2022 through 2025.
Bevell’s résumé includes five top-10 offenses, which is no small feat in today’s NFL. He’s worked with a range of quarterbacks, from veterans to young guns, and his offenses have typically leaned on balance, play-action, and smart situational football. That kind of experience could be exactly what the Jets need to stabilize a group that never found its rhythm last season.
The pressure is on for head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey. With both reportedly on the hot seat heading into 2026, this hire matters-a lot. Bringing in a seasoned play-caller like Bevell could provide the kind of steady hand and offensive identity the Jets have been missing.
After a 2025 campaign that left fans frustrated and searching for answers, Bevell represents a potential step toward clarity-and competence-on that side of the ball.
