Green Bay Packers Trade Pro Bowl Star to Dallas Cowboys for Draft Pick

Packers shake up their defense by trading Rashan Gary and losing Kingsley Enagbare, focusing on financial flexibility for the future.

In a move that has the NFL buzzing, the Green Bay Packers have traded Pro Bowl pass rusher Rashan Gary to the Dallas Cowboys. In exchange, the Packers snag a fourth-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. This decision offers Green Bay a financial breather, freeing up $11 million in cap space for the 2026 season-a much-needed relief for a team looking to balance its books.

The departure of Gary wasn't entirely unexpected this offseason, but the Packers' fans were holding out hope that Kingsley Enagbare might stick around. However, the winds of change have swept him away, too.

In an intriguing twist, Kingsley Enagbare is heading to the New York Jets. The deal, confirmed by various NFL insiders, sees Enagbare signing a one-year contract worth $10 million with the Jets. This agreement, negotiated by Trevon Smith of Athletes First, becomes official with the start of the new league year on Wednesday.

Drafted in the fifth round back in 2022, Enagbare has shown flashes of potential with the Packers, tallying 11.5 sacks over four seasons. Despite his talent, he often found himself in a rotational role, playing second fiddle to others on the depth chart.

Last season, he was on the field for just 42% of the defensive snaps, managing 2.5 sacks. This was a dip from the previous year, where he played 47% of snaps and recorded 4.5 sacks.

The Jets' decision to offer Enagbare $10 million signals their intent to utilize him as a starting pass rusher, a role he might not have secured in Green Bay. With Micah Parsons anchoring one end and Lukas Van Ness, a former first-round pick, on the other, the Packers' defensive line was already stacked. Enagbare's move to New York presents him with a fresh start and a chance to shine in a more prominent role.
