Green Bay Packers Sign CB Benjamin St-Juste Amidst Major Roster Changes

Packers bolster their defensive backfield with the strategic signing of cornerback Benjamin St-Juste, setting the stage for a revamped roster in 2026.

The Green Bay Packers have been busy making strategic moves as the NFL free agency period kicks off. While they didn't dive into the pool of outside free agents on the first unofficial day, they made headlines by trading Rashan Gary to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round pick.

Additionally, they released two-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins. These decisions collectively freed up about $30 million in salary cap space for 2026.

Meanwhile, some Packers free agents are finding new homes. Malik Willis is set to join the Miami Dolphins, Quay Walker is heading to the Las Vegas Raiders, and Kingsley Enagbare will be suiting up for the New York Jets.

In a noteworthy move on Tuesday morning, the Packers agreed to their first deal with an outside free agent, signing cornerback Benjamin St-Juste to a two-year, $10 million contract, with potential incentives pushing it to $10.5 million. This deal, orchestrated by Kelton Crenshaw and Chris Coy of Klutch Sports, adds a valuable piece to Green Bay’s defense.

St-Juste, who revitalized his career last season with the Los Angeles Chargers, brings a commanding presence to the Packers' secondary. Standing at 6-foot-3, he offers the size Green Bay has been seeking in their defensive backfield.

Despite only recording two career interceptions, his impact on the field is undeniable. Last season, he allowed just a 53.5% completion rate and a 68.3 passer rating when targeted, without missing a single tackle.

His success with the Chargers can be attributed to his role as a boundary corner, a position that suits his strengths. Previously, during his tenure with the Washington Commanders, St-Juste was shuffled around in various defensive roles, including the slot, which didn't play to his abilities.

With the Packers, St-Juste is expected to solidify their options at boundary corner, potentially becoming a key part of their defensive strategy moving forward.
