Green Bay Packers Eyeing 3x Pro Bowler in Bold Trade Twist

Exploring a potential reunion, the Packers eye former star Kenny Clark to bolster their defense amid roster challenges and cap considerations.

The Green Bay Packers have some pressing needs to address this off-season, and while the cornerback position often steals the spotlight, bolstering the defensive line could be key to improving their secondary's performance. The absence of Micah Parsons in the last three weeks of the regular season highlighted a glaring issue: the Packers struggled to generate a consistent pass rush.

Adding to their woes, Devonte Wyatt's mid-season ankle injury left a noticeable gap in their run defense. With these challenges in mind, it's clear that Green Bay is on the hunt for quality interior defensive line depth.

Interestingly, a potential solution might be someone they're familiar with: Kenny Clark. Once a Packer, Clark was traded to the Dallas Cowboys in the deal that brought Parsons to Green Bay. Now, he might be on the move again.

Matt Okada from NFL.com recently identified players who could become salary cap casualties, and Clark's name surfaced. The Cowboys are facing a daunting $30.1 million cap overage, ranking third-worst in the league. Cutting Clark would free up his $21.5 million cap hit, making it a financially tempting move for Dallas.

Despite Clark's experience, his recent performance hasn't been stellar. He earned a 53.7 run grade from Pro Football Focus in 2025, placing him 40th among 74 interior defensive linemen with 500+ snaps.

His 21 run stops were the fewest since his rookie season in 2016. Yet, with Quinnen Williams and Osa Odighizuwa also commanding significant cap space, the Cowboys might find themselves in a tight spot.

If Clark is released, a return to Green Bay could be on the cards. He would likely come at a reduced price, considering his age and last year's performance. However, re-signing him would mark a shift from the Packers' recent trend of getting younger.

Still, Clark's leadership and ability to contribute in a limited role could be invaluable. For a team looking to shore up its defensive line, bringing back a familiar face might just be the right move.
