George Kittle couldn’t resist getting in a little joke at Tucker Kraft’s expense this week, turning a harmless social media mix-up into a quick reminder of the tight end bond that runs through the league.
It started when fans noticed a TikTok account under Kraft’s name that had become unusually active, piling up 280.5k followers and 1.6 million likes while also engaging with comments. Kraft addressed the situation on X on Tuesday to clear things up.
Kittle, never one to pass up a chance for a prank, jumped in with a sarcastic line aimed at the Packers tight end.
"Suuuuure you dont. You just messaged me asking to venmo you to help fix a car tire!" Kittle tweeted.
The exchange fit the relationship the two have built away from the field. Kraft has spent back-to-back offseasons learning from Kittle at Kittle’s annual Tight End U summit, and he has openly treated the 49ers star as a model for his own game. Kraft has tried to take pieces of Kittle’s style with him, especially the run-blocking and the physical yards-after-catch approach that make Kittle such a problem for defenses.
Kittle was back in the news for a very different reason, too, as he took aim at the NFL’s continued use of artificial turf. In comments shared by NFL insider Ari Meirov on Friday, Kittle pointed to the natural grass surfaces installed for FIFA World Cup matches and questioned why the league hasn’t made the same move.
"We've made it clear that we prefer grass fields," Kittle said. "We know it's better on our bodies and clearly, we know it's possible based on everything that went into putting down grass fields for the World Cup in each stadium.
"At this point, it comes down to the NFL making it a priority and choosing to invest in us as players because our bodies are out business, which they get to capitalize on!"
Kittle’s stance lines up with a broader push from players and the NFL Players Association, both of which have pressed for natural grass instead of synthetic surfaces.
