Emanuel Wilson, the former Green Bay Packers running back and Fort Valley State University standout, is making headlines with his recent move to the Seattle Seahawks. Signing a one-year deal worth $2.1 million, Wilson steps into a key role following the departure of Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III.
Seattle's General Manager, John Schneider, expressed enthusiasm about Wilson's addition during an interview on Seattle Sports radio station 710 AM. Schneider praised the pro staff for their keen evaluation, highlighting Wilson's unique blend of size and agility. "Here's this 230-pound guy with great feet," Schneider noted, emphasizing the opportunity for Wilson to integrate into the Seahawks' culture and prove his worth.
Wilson's journey began at Johnson C. Smith University, where he quickly made a name for himself with 1,040 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.
His versatility shone through as he added 86 receiving yards to his stats. Transferring to Fort Valley State University, Wilson continued to impress, racking up 2,086 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns over two seasons.
His remarkable 2022 performance, featuring over 1,200 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns, caught the NFL's eye, showcasing his dual-threat capability with 187 receiving yards and two scores.
Despite going undrafted in 2023, Wilson's resilience saw him sign with the Denver Broncos before making his mark with the Green Bay Packers. He became a crucial part of their offense, especially when stepping up for the injured Josh Jacobs. In a standout game against the Minnesota Vikings, Wilson carried the ball 28 times for 107 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Packers to a 23-6 victory.
Now with the Seahawks, Wilson adds a dynamic element to their backfield as they aim to defend their Super Bowl title. His powerful running style and proven track record make him a compelling addition to Seattle's offensive arsenal.
