The Miami Dolphins are certainly making waves this offseason, bringing in familiar faces from Green Bay. Not only have the general manager, head coach, and quarterback joined from the Packers, but now two more players are making the move south. First up, safety and special teams standout Zayne Anderson signed on, and now tight end Ben Sims is following suit, as reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Ben Sims is a name Green Bay fans know well. The Packers eyed him closely, even bringing him in as a pre-draft visitor back in 2023. Though he initially signed with the Minnesota Vikings, Sims found his way to the Packers at the cutdown deadline of his rookie season after not making the Vikings' final roster.
During his tenure from 2023 to 2025 with the Packers, Sims played in 37 games, contributing primarily in blocking and special teams. His time on the field included 414 offensive snaps and 187 special teams reps.
Late last August, the Packers waived Sims, hoping he’d return to their practice squad. However, the Vikings swooped in, claiming him for the remainder of the 2025 season.
The Packers soon faced a tight end crisis with injuries hitting hard. Both Tucker Kraft and John FitzPatrick suffered season-ending injuries, prompting Josh Whyle to step up from the practice squad to the active roster.
Anderson and Sims join the Dolphins alongside Malik Willis and safety Omar Brown, adding to the list of former Packers heading to Miami this offseason. The Dolphins are clearly building a roster with some Green Bay influence, and it will be fascinating to see how these players gel in their new environment.
