Davante Adams Breaks Former Packers Record With Two Touchdowns Sunday

Davante Adams continues to etch his name alongside NFL legends with a record-breaking performance that redefines red-zone dominance.

Davante Adams just keeps rewriting the record books-and on Sunday, he added a few more chapters.

In the Los Angeles Rams' win over the Carolina Panthers, Adams hauled in two more touchdown catches, and in doing so, etched his name even deeper into NFL history. The former Green Bay Packers star didn’t just have a big game-he broke one long-standing record, tied another, and climbed higher on the league’s all-time touchdown leaderboard.

Let’s start with the red zone dominance. Adams caught touchdowns of 4 yards and 7 yards, and while those might seem routine on the stat sheet, they were anything but ordinary in the historical context.

With those scores, Adams now owns 60 career touchdown receptions inside the 10-yard line, surpassing the legendary Jerry Rice, who previously held the record with 58. That’s right-Adams just passed the GOAT in one of the most specific, high-pressure scoring categories in the game.

But he didn’t stop there. His 4-yard touchdown also marked his ninth scoring grab inside the 5-yard line this season, breaking a single-season record that had stood for over two decades.

That record was originally set by Packers tight end Bubba Franks back in 2001 and later tied by Randy Moss in 2004. Franks, known for his short-yardage reliability, made a living catching quick strikes near the goal line, often off play-action from Brett Favre.

Now, Adams has taken that short-field efficiency to another level.

And speaking of Moss-Adams keeps finding himself in elite company. With Sunday’s two-touchdown performance, he now has 28 career games with at least two touchdown receptions, tying him with Don Hutson, the Packers legend and Hall of Famer, for sixth-most in NFL history.

One more such game, and Adams will move into a tie for fourth with Cris Carter and Marvin Harrison. The all-time leader?

Of course, it’s Jerry Rice again, with 44.

Adams’ second touchdown of the day also carried significant weight in the career totals column. It was the 117th touchdown reception of his career, pushing him past Antonio Gates for seventh-most in NFL history.

Next up on the list is Larry Fitzgerald, who sits at 121. With four more scores, Adams will move into sixth all-time-a spot that seemed unthinkable when he entered the league as a second-round pick in 2014.

Here’s a look at where Adams stands among the all-time greats in touchdown receptions:

  1. Jerry Rice - 197
  2. Randy Moss - 156
  3. Terrell Owens - 153
  4. Cris Carter - 130
  5. Marvin Harrison - 128
  6. Larry Fitzgerald - 121
  7. Davante Adams - 117

Adams also leads the NFL with 14 touchdown catches through 13 weeks, marking the third time in his career he’s hit at least 14 in a season. The only other players to accomplish that feat three times?

You guessed it-Rice, Moss, Owens, and Harrison. That’s not just elite company; that’s Mount Rushmore-level company for wide receivers.

During his eight seasons in Green Bay, Adams caught 73 touchdown passes, becoming a favorite target for Aaron Rodgers and a nightmare for opposing secondaries. Since moving on from the Packers, he’s added 44 more, continuing to produce at a Hall of Fame pace no matter the jersey he’s wearing.

At this point, Adams isn’t just building a Hall of Fame résumé-he’s fortifying it with every route, every catch, every score. Whether it’s inside the 5-yard line or climbing the all-time lists, he’s proving once again that he’s one of the most dominant and consistent touchdown threats the league has ever seen.
