Ashton Jeanty Trade Buzz Just Put Raiders Fans On Edge

Could promising young running back Ashton Jeanty be the perfect solution for the Green Bay Packers as they eye a strategic move before the NFL trade deadline?

The Green Bay Packers may be staring at a different running back option as the November 10 trade deadline gets closer, and this one comes with a much younger timeline than Jonathan Taylor.

ESPN’s Bill Barnwell floated a deal that would send Las Vegas Raiders back Ashton Jeanty to Green Bay, making the case that the rookie is a better fit for the Packers than a pursuit of Taylor. Barnwell pointed to Jeanty’s age, his rookie contract, and the upside that still makes him an attractive target even after an uneven start in Las Vegas.

That idea lines up with how Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst has operated. Barnwell noted that Gutekunst likes building around young players, which is why Jeanty fits the kind of long-term planning Green Bay tends to favor. Because Jeanty is still on his rookie deal, Barnwell argued the Packers could land him at a manageable cost.

“The Raiders selected him sixth overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, but his role has changed under the current coaching staff.”

Barnwell also highlighted Jeanty’s ability as a receiver and suggested a stronger offense could help bring back the burst that made him such a high draft pick in the first place. “Jeanty could be part of a rotation alongside Josh Jacobs before taking over once the Packers decide to move on from their current starter,” Barnwell added.

Jeanty’s numbers show both the promise and the inconsistency. He finished his rookie season with 975 rushing yards and 346 receiving yards.

This season, he has 337 rushing yards and 376 receiving yards. The Raiders have leaned on him more in passing situations, though his rushing success rate has improved.

For Green Bay, the financial angle matters too. Jeanty would give the team more flexibility, since he has three more years of team control after this season through his rookie contract and fifth-year option. That would allow the Packers to use him with Jacobs this year and then sort out their long-term plan for the veteran later.

Taylor, by contrast, brings a tougher cap problem. Green Bay cannot get out from under Jacobs’ salary until the offseason, which makes a move for Taylor harder to pull off right now.

Jeanty’s lower price tag could make him the cleaner option, especially after a rough stretch. But the bigger question is on the Raiders’ side: do they really want to move on from a young back this early in his career?

For Green Bay, the appeal is obvious. Jeanty would bring in a talented runner without the financial bite that comes with Taylor. Whether Las Vegas is willing to listen before November 10 is the part that still has to be answered.

Jordan Love Is At The Center Of A Heated NFC North Debate

Through the first eight weeks, the NFC North has turned into a quarterback debate with no easy answer, and Jordan Love has made sure Green Bay is part of the conversation. While the division has been judged through the lens of touchdown passes, sack rates and passer ratings, Loves play has stood out even as the Packers have dealt with their own team-wide challenges around him.

The bigger question is how much weight to give the numbers when the division is so tightly packed with different styles of success. Caleb Williams has brought strong play to Chicago, Jared Goff has been efficient in Detroit, and even the struggles tied to Kyler Murray have shaped the discussion, but Loves case keeps growing because he has delivered at a high level despite the circumstances. Jordan Loves Latest Joke Will Hit Home For Frustrated Packers Fans

With the Packers sitting at 5-3 and trying to climb out of fourth place in the NFC North, Jordan Love found a little off-field comic relief this week. Love and his wife leaned into Halloween with a costume that poked fun at blind NFL referees, and the clip made its way to Matt LaFleur, who at least appreciated the joke.

It was the kind of light moment that can land differently when a fan base is already feeling the strain of an uneven start. Love has still put together a solid season through the air, but Green Bays margin for error remains slim, and even a harmless Halloween bit carries a little extra edge when every call and every result seems to matter. Packers Kicking Problem Just Put Matt LaFleur In A Tough Spot

Special teams has become a real pressure point in Green Bay, and Trey Smacks uneven season is forcing the conversation into the open. Through eight games, the kicker has missed more kicks than anyone else in the league, with the kind of inconsistency that can quickly turn a routine drive into a problem for a team trying to stay on schedule.

Matt LaFleur addressed the situation in a recent media availability and made it clear the Packers are sticking with Smack for now. The coach said the team appreciates his resilience, a notable vote of confidence for a player who has still connected on 11 of 16 field goals and 16 of 19 extra points, even as the margin for error keeps shrinking.
