The buzz around AJ Brown's potential departure from the Philadelphia Eagles has quieted down, with the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots reportedly interested but no trade on the horizon just yet. Brown's dissatisfaction in Philly was a hot topic last year, but for now, it looks like the Rams have shifted their focus elsewhere.
The Rams recently made a splash by trading several draft picks to the Kansas City Chiefs for star cornerback Trent McDuffie, signing him to a hefty four-year, $124 million extension. With $33.8 million already committed to receivers Davante Adams and Puka Nacua, who’s eyeing a big extension, the Rams seem to be out of the running for Brown.
On the other hand, the Patriots are still in the mix. Brown, nearing 30 and reportedly seeking a new contract post-2026, could be a fit for New England. A league insider suggests the Patriots are the frontrunners to land the Ole Miss standout, though they’re hesitant to part with a first-round pick for him.
Philadelphia faces a cap conundrum with Brown's $23 million hit looming in 2026. Initially, they set a high price for Brown, but recent reports indicate they might be softening their stance. With four top 100 picks already in hand, the Eagles might be open to a future first-rounder instead.
The Patriots, meanwhile, have released Stefon Diggs and brought in Romeo Doubs from the Packers on a four-year deal worth up to $80 million. Doubs is coming off a solid season with 724 yards and six touchdowns, but his arrival doesn't rule out adding Brown. Patriots executive Eliot Wolf has made it clear there's no rush on trade talks, leaving the door open for further negotiations.
