Pac-12 Just Set A Huge March Stage For Oregon State

The Pac-12 Conference unveils its revamped basketball tournaments, set to make a splash in Las Vegas with innovative formats and a strong lineup of teams for 2027.

The Pac-12 is already laying out the road map for its 2027 basketball tournaments, and the destination is a familiar one: Las Vegas.

The conference announced that both its men’s and women’s tournaments will be held at MGM Grand Garden Arena in 2027 and 2028, bringing the events back to a venue with a long basketball history. The tournaments will run side by side over five days, with the women’s games scheduled earlier in the day and the men’s games following.

All nine full-time members will take part, with seeding based on regular-season results. The format starts on March 9, 2027, with play-in games for the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds.

The No. 3 and No. 4 seeds will move straight into the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 11, while the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds won’t play until the semifinals on Friday, March 12. Both championship games are set for Saturday, March 13, and the winners will earn the league’s automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament.

Broadcast plans are already in place for the men’s side. The first seven games will air on USA Network, while the championship game will be shown on CBS and Paramount+.

For the women’s tournament, The CW will carry the semifinals and final. Coverage for the earlier women’s games has not yet been announced as of summer 2026.

The announcement comes after the Pac-12 relaunched on July 1, 2026, with nine full-time members. Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State joined the league, while Oregon State and Washington State had spent two years competing in the West Coast Conference for men’s and women’s basketball during the conference’s expansion.

Pac-12 Commissioner Teresa Gould said in a statement, "Bringing the next era of the Pac-12 and our basketball tournaments back to Las Vegas and the MGM Grand Garden Arena is a testament to the strength of our teams and brands," said Pac-12 Commissioner Teresa Gould in a statement. "With combined dates and new formats for both our men's and women's events, our rich basketball legacy meets transformation with exciting new energy. We look forward to creating all-new memories for our student-athletes and fans by continuing to work with great partners in MGM Resorts and the [Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority]."

Gonzaga Still Has One Roster Decision Hanging Over Year One In The Pac-12

Gonzagas offseason work is mostly done as the program builds toward its first year in the Pac-12, but there is still a little room left on the board. After bringing in a wave of transfers and recruits, the Bulldogs have one roster spot remaining to sort out before the 2026-27 season, and the final addition is likely to be shaped by fit as much as timing.

The staff is still weighing whether to use that opening on another perimeter piece, especially with the roster already leaning on a few new faces and some uncertainty around depth. A little more shooting and spacing would make sense for a team trying to keep its options open, and Gonzaga has been doing its homework on several available guards and wings who could help in that area. Oregon State Fans Finally Get The Answer On The New Pac-12

The Pac-12s return became official July 1, and with it came the answer Oregon State fans had been waiting for: what the league would actually look like after the dust settled. The rebuilt conference now has Oregon State and Washington State at its core, joined by a wave of new full-time members that gives the league a fresh footprint and a clearer path forward in the years ahead.

Gonzaga is part of that new group, a notable addition for a league trying to stay viable as an FBS conference while also protecting its standing in mens and womens basketball. The broader setup also includes affiliate members across Olympic sports, and the first season of the new arrangement is set for the 2026-2027 academic year, giving the conference a runway before the real test begins.
