Michigan just landed a big-time addition to its 2026 recruiting class, and we mean that both literally and figuratively. Lincoln Cosby, a 6-foot-10 wing out of Montverde Academy (FL), has officially committed to the Wolverines. Originally a top-10 prospect in the 2027 class, Cosby made the move to reclassify to 2026 - and now he’s headed to Ann Arbor.
Cosby’s commitment is a major win for head coach Dusty May and his staff. The Cincinnati native had no shortage of suitors, with programs like Houston, Alabama, and Louisville all in the mix. But in the end, it was Michigan’s system - particularly how they use versatile, skilled forwards - that sealed the deal.
“How they utilize their big, skilled forwards with versatility … I felt like I saw myself playing and producing in that type of system,” Cosby told ESPN. That’s not just coach-speak - it’s a clear sign that Cosby sees a direct path to impact in May’s scheme.
And there’s plenty of reason to believe he’ll make that impact quickly. Cosby turned heads last season in the Overtime Elite program, where he averaged 15.6 points, 11.6 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game.
Those numbers don’t just show scoring and rebounding - they show a player who can defend, disrupt, and cover ground on both ends of the floor. At 6'10" with a wing’s skill set, he brings a rare blend of size, mobility, and versatility.
This past summer, Cosby suited up for 444 Athletics on the Puma Pro16 circuit, continuing to build his profile against high-level competition. His development curve has been steep - and his decision to reclassify only underscores how advanced his game already is.
Cosby is now rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 45 overall player in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports. He becomes the fifth member of Michigan’s 2026 haul, joining fellow four-stars Quinn Costello and Joseph Hartman, three-star guard Malachi Brown, and Spanish center Marcus Moller.
With Cosby in the fold, this class is shaping up to be a foundational group for Dusty May’s vision at Michigan. It’s not just about star rankings - it’s about fit, versatility, and upside. And Cosby checks all those boxes.
