In a moment that quickly captured the internet's attention, Mario Saint-Supery of Gonzaga made an unexpected entrance into Oregon State’s cheerleader section during the West Coast Conference Tournament semifinal at Orleans Arena.
After scoring Gonzaga's first basket with a falling layup, the freshman's momentum carried him straight into the cheer section, landing right in the lap of an Oregon State cheerleader. Ever the gentleman, Saint-Supery was quick to apologize, with teammates Jalen Warley and Graham Ike soon helping him back onto the court.
His repeated apologies, “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry,” were caught on camera, earning him the nickname "Mr. Nice Guy" from ESPN announcer Dave Flemming. The light-hearted incident went viral, sparking reactions from Saint-Supery and his teammates after the Zags secured a 65-56 victory.
Saint-Supery took to Instagram to share his thoughts, humorously noting, “Just tried to be polite,” complete with a laughing emoji. His teammate Ike joined in the fun, resharing the clip with the comment, “Whatta guy.”
This moment not only highlighted Saint-Supery’s sportsmanship but also added a touch of humor to Gonzaga's triumphant evening.
