Gonzaga still has work to do in the backcourt, and Tre Holloman has emerged as another name worth watching as Mark Few fills out the final roster spot for 2026-27.
The Bulldogs landed a pair of fifth-year seniors through the recent court rulings in Ohio and Georgia, adding point guard Javon Bennett from Dayton and forward Chauncey Wiggins from Florida State. That gave Gonzaga a needed boost in the backcourt and added outside shooting, but the staff still appears to be hunting for one more veteran guard.
The most likely path seems clear: another fifth-year senior, and probably a true point guard who could slide Bennett into a reserve role. Donovan Dent of UCLA and Xaivian Lee of Florida remain the top two targets, but Holloman is another transfer portal option Gonzaga could seriously consider.

There’s a pretty easy case for why Gonzaga would be interested. The Minnesota native went from a borderline top 100 recruit to a major contributor over three seasons under Tom Izzo at Michigan State.
As a junior, Holloman put up 9.1 points and a career-best 3.7 assists per game while turning it over just 1.6 times in 23.1 minutes a night. When Jeremy Fears returned to East Lansing, Holloman moved on and spent last season at NC State under Will Wade. There, he averaged 9.2 points, 2.1 assists and 1.2 turnovers while knocking down 40.2% of his threes on 4.0 attempts per game.
His overall track record is solid across the board. In 138 games at the power conference level, Holloman has hit 37.2% from deep and 81.6% of his free throws. The assist numbers aren’t eye-popping at 2.3 per game for his career, but he has kept the ball in safe hands, averaging just 1.0 turnover.
That profile fits what Gonzaga still needs. The Zags are looking for a starting point guard to go with a lineup that already includes 6'7 wing Davis Fogle, 6'10 forward Chauncey Wiggins, 6'10 forward Braden Huff, and 7'1 center Massamba Diop.
Bennett can handle the position at this level, but if he comes off the bench, the whole roster gets even more dangerous. Holloman would bring size, outside shooting and the kind of ball security that can steady a high-level team.
Dent and Lee remain the headliners in Gonzaga’s search, but Holloman fits the bill too. If he ended up in Spokane, he’d slide neatly into the kind of lineup that could make the Bulldogs a national championship contender as they enter the new-look Pac-12 in 2026-27.
