Gonzaga's Ike Earns Honorable Mention All-American Recognition
In a testament to his standout season, Gonzaga's star player, Ike, has been honored as an honorable mention All-American by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA). This recognition adds another accolade to Ike's impressive resume, highlighting his pivotal role in Gonzaga's success this year.
The USBWA, an influential body in college basketball since its founding in 1956, annually selects a Men's All-America Team and presents prestigious awards like the Oscar Robertson Trophy for national player of the year. The winners of these awards will be unveiled at the 2026 Men's Final Four in Indianapolis, with a formal presentation at the USBWA Awards Luncheon hosted by the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
Ike's season has been nothing short of spectacular. Recently named the West Coast Conference (WCC) Player of the Year, he leads the conference in scoring with an impressive 19.7 points per game, ranks second in rebounding with 8.2 per game, and boasts a field goal percentage of .573. In conference play, his numbers are even more remarkable, topping the charts with 21.9 points per game and a .613 field goal percentage, while maintaining his strong rebounding presence.
Ike's consistency is evident, with 14 double-doubles this season, placing him 16th nationally. He's had two close calls with nine-rebound games while still hitting double digits in scoring in nearly every matchup.
A standout performance came against Santa Clara, where Ike recorded a double-double, surpassing Gonzaga legend Drew Timme for the most games with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in the last 30 seasons. Notably, Ike leads the WCC with three 30-point games this season.
On a national scale, Ike stands out among active players with 2,531 career points, the highest in the country. His 1,133 rebounds place him second, making him the only player with over 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
Joining an elite group, Ike became just the 86th player in NCAA Division I history to reach 2,500 career points. His career stats are further bolstered by leading the nation with 975 field goals made and ranking fourth with 535 made free throws.
His 45 career double-doubles rank third nationally.
