Gonzaga Just Earned Another Massive Honor On Basketballs Biggest Stage

Mark Few joins a strong USA Basketball coaching lineup alongside Erik Spoelstra, promising strategic prowess for upcoming international tournaments.

USA Basketball is bringing back a familiar face and adding two more accomplished coaches to the men’s national team staff for the next cycle.

Mark Few, J.B. Bickerstaff and Mark Daigneault will join head coach Erik Spoelstra on the bench for the 2027 FIBA Men’s World Cup and the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028, along with USA Basketball Showcase games leading into both events. The staff was chosen by USA Basketball men’s national team managing director Grant Hill and approved by the USA Basketball Board of Directors.

Hill made clear why the three were tapped.

"I am thrilled to add Mark Few, J.B. Bickerstaff and Mark Daigneault to the USA Basketball Men's National Team coaching staff," Hill said.

"Mark Few, a Hall of Famer, is not only is one of the most accomplished NCAA coaches in history but also knows what it takes to guide USA Basketball at the highest levels. Mark Daigneault and J.B. are proven leaders and winners who I'm confident will be extraordinary additions to Erik's staff."

Few is the returner in the group. He and Spoelstra were assistants to Steve Kerr at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, when the USA won its fifth straight gold medal, and they also worked together at the 2023 FIBA Men’s World Cup in Manila.

Daigneault, meanwhile, has USA Basketball experience of his own, having served as video coordinator for the gold medal-winning 2013 USA U19 and 2014 U18 national teams under Billy Donovan. Bickerstaff will be making his first USA assignment next summer.

Bickerstaff’s résumé has surged in recent years. He became Detroit’s head coach in July 2024 and, in his second season, guided the Pistons to an Eastern Conference-best 60-22 record and a trip to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Before that, he led Cleveland to the conference semifinals in 2024. He was also the 2026 National Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year and coached the 2026 NBA All-Star Game.

A University of Minnesota alumnus, Bickerstaff has worked as an assistant or head coach in the NBA since 2004 with five franchises, including Charlotte, Houston and Memphis.

Daigneault arrives with championship credentials. The 2025 NBA champion has been in charge of the Oklahoma City Thunder since 2020 and has been with the organization since 2014, when he took over as head coach of the Oklahoma City Blue while also serving in a dual assistant role with the Thunder.

In 2026, his team posted the NBA’s best regular-season record at 64-18 and reached the Western Conference Finals. A year before the Thunder won the title in 2024, Daigneault was named NBA and NBCA Coach of the Year.

He started coaching as an assistant at University of Holy Cross before returning to his alma mater, University of Florida, from 2010-2014.

Few’s place on the staff fits a long track record with both Gonzaga and USA Basketball. He has been on Gonzaga’s coaching staff since 1989 and became head coach in 1999.

Now a 2026 Naismith Hall of Fall inductee, Few has taken the Bulldogs to the NCAA Tournament every season and reached the national championship game in 2017 and 2021. Under his watch, Gonzaga has won 21 West Coast Conference Tournaments and shared 23 conference regular-season titles.

His USA Basketball ties run deep, too. Few first joined the program as a court coach for the 2009 USA Men’s U19 National Team training camp.

He later served as an assistant at the 2018 USA National Team minicamp and on the 2019 and 2021 USA Men’s Select Teams. He also won a bronze medal as head coach of the 2015 USA Men’s Pan American Games Team and a gold medal as an assistant with the 2012 USA U18 National Team.

The next two major stops for the program are already on the calendar. The 2027 FIBA Men’s World Cup will be held Aug.

27-Sept. 12, 2027, in Doha, Qatar, with the USA still qualifying for the event and Window 4 of qualifying set for Aug. 26-31.

Then the Olympic Games return to the United States for the first time since 2002, with Los Angeles hosting from July 14-30, 2028.

Graham Ike Is Forcing The Warriors To Keep Watching

Graham Ikes path from Gonzaga to the Warriors has already taken a few turns, and the latest one has kept him squarely on Golden States radar. After going undrafted in the 2026 NBA draft, the forward signed an Exhibit 10 deal and has made the most of his chance in Summer League, where his production has stood out enough to put him among the better-performing rookies in the event.

The bigger question now is whether that showing is enough to turn a summer look into something more lasting. Golden State has not handed him a two-way contract yet, but Ikes blend of size, rebounding and steady play has given the front office a reason to keep watching, especially with the team still sorting out its depth in the frontcourt. Gonzaga Target Lewis Uvwo Just Sent A Message At Peach Jam

Lewis Uvwo keeps giving college coaches reasons to pay attention, and the 6-foot-11 class of 2027 big man did it again at Peach Jam. The Gonzaga target turned in a dominant showing in AAU play, flashing the kind of defensive presence that has made him one of the most talked-about young recruits in the country while drawing interest from programs such as Duke, Miami and Arkansas.

Uvwos appeal goes well beyond size, because his best moments come from how quickly he changes a game around the rim. Dukes recent offer only added to the buzz around him, and with more high-major programs circling, Gonzaga is watching a prospect whose stock seems to rise every time he steps on the floor.
