Gonzaga’s annual Kraziness in the Kennel arrives next Saturday, Oct. 3, and this year’s edition comes with a fresh look and a few unresolved roster questions hanging over it.
Mark Few’s group is set to take the floor in Spokane for the Blue vs. White scrimmage, giving fans their first real chance to see a roster that still isn’t fully settled.
Four of the 15 players on Gonzaga’s roster - transfers Xaivian Lee, Javon Bennett, Chauncey Wiggins, and international big man Izan Almansa - are still in eligibility limbo, which could affect their availability this season. Lee is currently eligible, while Bennett and Wiggins may still be able to take part at Kraziness since it is a practice and not an official game.
Even with that uncertainty, the event should still deliver the usual show in the Kennel. And as always, a few players will have a chance to grab the spotlight early.
Davis Fogle is the obvious name to start with. The freshman already went from end-of-the-bench newcomer to a major part of Gonzaga’s rotation last season, thanks to his scoring touch and the jump he made defensively. Now entering his sophomore year, he has a real runway to break out again, and it would not be a surprise if he leads the scrimmage in scoring.
Isiah Harwell is another player worth watching closely. A former McDonald’s All-American, Harwell played a key role in Houston’s rotation as a freshman before transferring to Gonzaga in April. He spent the offseason recovering from a leg injury that affected his athleticism last year, and Kraziness should offer the first good look at how much of that explosion has returned.
The guard situation also puts attention on Mario Saint-Supery de Sousa, who was finally cleared by the NCAA to play this season. That gives Gonzaga at least one guaranteed point guard on the roster.
Depending on whether Lee or Bennett end up eligible, de Sousa could be asked to start or could settle into a deeper role. Either way, the 23-year-old French guard brings facilitation and outside shooting that could make him a quick favorite.
Among the newcomers, Luca Foster is one of the most intriguing. The 6'6 wing with a 6'9 wingspan was one of the best shooters and scorers in the country as a senior, and there has been buzz that he has impressed the team this summer. His role still depends in part on the eligibility situation surrounding Wiggins, but Kraziness should provide an early clue about how Gonzaga plans to use him in year one.
Then there’s 18-year-old French wing Nolan Hickman? No - the source identifies the final player as an 18-year-old French wing who is still raw and not projected to play a major role this season. The upside is obvious, though, and he could still create one of those moments at Kraziness that gets the crowd buzzing.

A familiar nonconference heavyweight is back on Gonzagas schedule, and this one comes with a different kind of stage. The Bulldogs will meet Duke on Feb. 20 at 5 p.m. PT at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, with the game set for exclusive broadcast on Amazon Prime as part of Dukes multiyear streaming deal.
It will be the sixth time the programs have faced each other, adding another chapter to a series that has already carried plenty of name value and tournament history.
