Gonzaga is lining up another big recruiting weekend, and one of the main names on the board is 4-star wing Gene Roebuck.
Roebuck is set to return to Spokane for Kraziness in the Kennel on Oct. 3, according to a report from Brandon Jenkins of 247Sports. He was on campus last year, and this trip gives the Bulldogs another chance to make their case to one of the top wings in the 2027 class.
The California native has also scheduled visits to Washington on Sep. 12 and Cal on Sep. 25.
TCU and USC remain possibilities as well, and UCLA, Baylor, Virginia, and Cincinnati are among the other schools that have offered him. At this point, it sounds like Roebuck has trimmed his focus to a smaller group of programs, with Gonzaga very much in the mix.
That’s a meaningful development for Mark Few and company. Gonzaga rarely misses when it gets recruits to Kraziness, and a second visit from Roebuck is a strong sign.
Roebuck, a 6-foot-5 wing from La Mirada, CA, has climbed into the top 50 of the 2027 rankings at Rivals, where he sits at No. 44, and at 247Sports, where he checks in at No. 46.
ESPN has him at No. 71.
He backed up that stock this summer on the Adidas 3SSB circuit with Dream Vision, putting up 19.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 17 games while shooting 42.5% from three. His 37 made threes ranked 14th out of nearly 500 players on the circuit, and that kind of perimeter production is exactly what makes him such a tempting fit at the next level.
The flaws are there, too. Roebuck averaged 3.0 turnovers per game this summer, and he still needs work on his off-ball movement and overall defense. Even so, the upside is obvious, especially for a player with his size, strength, and scoring touch.
Gonzaga’s 2027 board also includes another major target in Jalen Davis, a 5-star guard from Bremerton, WA. Davis is scheduled to visit Nov. 7 for the home opener against New Mexico State, and his other planned visits include North Carolina, Stanford, Iowa, and UCLA.
A 6-foot-3 combo guard, Davis led Bremerton to a state title last year and has been a longtime target for Few. Together with Roebuck, he gives Gonzaga a chance to add serious firepower around 5-star guard Dooney Johnson, who recently moved up to No. 11 in the updated class rankings at Rivals.
Right now, Johnson is the only player committed to Gonzaga in the 2027 class. But if the Zags can land both Roebuck and Davis after these fall visits, they’d be looking at one of the program’s strongest recruiting classes in years.
