Tiger Woods Headlines Genesis Invitational Return to Riviera After Two-Year Break

The Genesis Invitational returns to Riviera with a loaded field and high stakes, even as its iconic host watches from the sidelines.

The PGA Tour is heading back to one of its crown jewels next week: Riviera Country Club. After a one-year detour to Torrey Pines due to the wildfires that swept through Southern California in 2025, the Genesis Invitational makes its long-awaited return to the iconic layout in Pacific Palisades.

And the field? Stacked.

This year’s Genesis Invitational isn’t just another stop on the calendar-it’s the second of back-to-back signature events on Tour, and it’s bringing the star power to match. We’re talking 18 of the top 20 players in the Official World Golf Ranking, and 41 of the top 50. That’s as elite as it gets outside of the majors.

Unlike some other signature events, this one comes with a twist: there will be a 36-hole cut. That means the top 50 and ties, plus anyone within 10 shots of the lead, will be sticking around for the weekend. It adds a layer of drama we haven’t seen at every big-money event this season-and at a course like Riviera, that’s a recipe for fireworks.

So who’s teeing it up at Riviera?

The field is a who’s who of today’s game. From seasoned major winners to rising stars, it’s a lineup that promises four days of world-class golf. Here's a look at the full list of players set to compete, including a few sponsor exemptions (*), which always add some intrigue.

What about Tiger?

Tiger Woods may be the host of the Genesis Invitational-his seventh year in that role-but he won’t be teeing it up himself. The 15-time major champion is still recovering from lumbar disc replacement surgery he underwent in October. While he’s made appearances in the public eye, including at a TGL event earlier this month, Woods made it clear that his return to competitive golf is still a ways off.

That said, his presence will still loom large over the tournament. Riviera has long been a special venue for Woods, even if it remains one of the few courses where he’s never won on Tour. As host, he’ll be part of the week’s narrative, even if he’s not walking the fairways with a scorecard in hand.

Bottom line?

This is one of those weeks where the stars align-literally. With a loaded field, a classic venue, and a cutline that ensures players can’t coast into the weekend, the Genesis Invitational is shaping up to be one of the premier events of the season. Riviera always delivers on drama, and with so many of the world’s best in the mix, don’t be surprised if we see something special unfold in the shadows of those eucalyptus trees.
