Scottie Scheffler's run at the Genesis Invitational was a rollercoaster that just didn't go his way. Coming off a remarkable top-five finish at Pebble Beach, Scheffler found himself struggling right out of the gate in Los Angeles.
By the end of Thursday, he was sitting in last place. Despite a strong showing over the weekend, he couldn't crack the top ten, bringing an end to an incredible streak.

His T12 finish at the Genesis Invitational means that his run of 18 straight events finishing in the top 10 has come to an end.

Scheffler's record of 18 consecutive top-ten finishes was something to behold, surpassing Vijay Singh's previous record of 12. On Sunday, it seemed like he might extend that streak to 19, especially after a sizzling 31 on the back nine.
However, a timely birdie from Cameron Young on the 18th hole dashed those hopes. This streak had its roots in last year's Texas Children's Houston Open.
The issue for Scheffler has been a string of slow starts on Thursdays, affecting his chances at both the Phoenix Open and Pebble Beach. With an impressive tally of 20 PGA Tour wins and four majors, the focus for Scheffler is now squarely on adding more victories to his resume. As major season approaches, he's got just one win this year and a few performances he'd rather leave behind.
Meanwhile, Jacob Bridgeman claimed victory at the Genesis Invitational, shooting one over par on Sunday to edge out Kurt Kitayama and Rory McIlroy by a single stroke. Scheffler ended up seven shots behind Bridgeman, with that opening round of 74 proving to be a significant setback.
Scheffler will take a breather before diving back into the PGA Tour Signature Events series. He's skipping the Cognizant Classic in West Palm Beach, aiming instead to capture his second Arnold Palmer Invitational and a third Players Championship during the Florida swing.
The question now is whether Scheffler can shake off these Thursday struggles and piece together another memorable season. Only time will tell if he can overcome these early hurdles and continue his march toward greatness.
