Scottie Scheffler Stuns at Genesis Invitational to Keep Streak Alive

Scottie Scheffler displays remarkable resilience at the Genesis Invitational, overcoming early setbacks to extend his cut streak and remain in the hunt for a strong weekend finish.

The Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles is heating up, and Scottie Scheffler just wrapped up an impressive round. After a rocky start with a 74 on Thursday, Scheffler bounced back on Friday, carding a solid 68. Thursdays haven't been Scheffler's best friend this season, but he knows how to rally.

At Tiger Woods' Genesis at Riviera, Scheffler pulled off a bit of magic to keep his cut streak alive, now stretching to 68 consecutive weeks. Currently sitting even overall, he's in good company with Ryo Hisatsune, Patrick Cantlay, Ben Griffin, Brian Harman, and Sahith Theegala.

Meanwhile, Marco Penge is on fire, leading the pack at -12, with a stunning -7 for the day. Chasing him are Xander Schauffele, Jacob Bridgeman, and Min Woo Lee, all tied at -9.

Scheffler found himself at +1 going into the Par 5 17th hole, needing a birdie to make the cut. After reaching the green in two, he narrowly missed an eagle but tapped in for an easy birdie. Just when it seemed like he was set for the weekend, a missed fairway on the 18th and an errant approach shot put his cut streak in jeopardy.

His birdie attempt from the rough fell short, but with some guidance from Xander Schauffele's birdie line, Scheffler sank a crucial seven-foot, two-inch putt to save par and stay in the game.

While a tournament win might be a stretch, given the leaderboard, Scheffler's never truly out of the mix. A strong weekend performance could land him in the Top 20, or even the Top 10.

Scottie Scheffler is carving out a space in golf history, reminiscent of Tiger Woods' own legendary career.
