Royal Portrush Stuns Fans with Major 2027 Golf Championship Announcement

Royal Portrush, a renowned venue in Northern Ireland, is set to welcome the prestigious Amateur Championship back to its links in 2027, marking its fourth hosting of the esteemed tournament.

Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland is set to host the Amateur Championship for the fourth time in 2027. This prestigious event, marking its 132nd edition, will unfold from June 14-19. The qualifying rounds are scheduled on the Dunluce and Valley links, with the main tournament taking place at Dunluce.

Royal Portrush is no stranger to this championship, having last hosted it in 2014 when Bradley Neil clinched the title. More recently, American golfer Ethan Fang emerged victorious at the 130th Amateur Championship, held at Royal St George's and Royal Cinque Ports in Deal, England, securing a dramatic one-hole victory over Gavin Tiernan in the final.

The course also played host to the 2025 Open, where Scottie Scheffler took home the title, adding another chapter to its storied history.

This year, the Amateur Championship will be held at Royal Liverpool in Hoylake, continuing the tradition of showcasing top amateur talent on some of the most iconic courses.

The tournament is widely regarded as one of the premier competitions outside the professional ranks. Northern Ireland’s own Michael Hoey, a five-time European Tour winner, captured the title back in 2001 at Prestwick, underscoring the event's significance in the golfing world.

In recent years, Irish courses have frequently hosted the championship, with Ballyliffin welcoming competitors in 2024 and Portmarnock in 2019. These venues continue to highlight the rich golfing heritage and challenging links that define the Amateur Championship.
