Rory McIlroy finds himself in second place, trailing leader Jacob Bridgeman by six strokes as they head into the final round of The Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club.
McIlroy is eyeing his first title of the season. After the third round, he has some ground to cover to catch Bridgeman.
Shooting a 69 with three birdies and one bogey, McIlroy sits at 13 under par. However, it's Bridgeman who holds the reins on the leaderboard.
Bridgeman delivered an impressive 64, wrapping up his third round at 19 under par, establishing a commanding lead. Despite a missed birdie opportunity on the 18th, his performance has been stellar.
Reflecting on the day's challenges, McIlroy noted, "The greens got fast and bumpy, but I hung in there. I stayed patient.
I wish I was closer to the lead, but I've given myself a chance. That's all I can ask for."
McIlroy expressed his determination, saying, "I'd love to win here. I'm going to play my hardest tomorrow and see what happens."
Elsewhere, Xander Schauffele sits at 10 under, tied for fifth, with Marco Penge just one shot behind. Scottie Scheffler shot a solid 66, heading into the final day at five under.
