Justin Thomas is gearing up for his return to competitive golf, and fans have plenty to be excited about. After undergoing a microdiscectomy in November to alleviate lower back pain, the 16-time PGA Tour winner is set to make his comeback at the TGL, competing for the Atlanta Drive. This marks his first appearance since the Ryder Cup last September.
Thomas announced on social media that he'll be playing against Boston Common and Los Angeles at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens on February 23. This is a warmup before he potentially joins the PGA Tour’s Florida Swing.
In a lighthearted exchange, country music star Luke Bryan, an Atlanta Drive limited partner, hinted at Thomas’s return. Thomas responded enthusiastically, confirming his participation with a simple, "See you Monday."
While Thomas hasn't officially committed to any of the four Florida Swing events, he mentioned in January his intention to return during this period. The Florida Swing kicks off on February 26 with the Cognizant Classic at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens.
At 32, Thomas has already amassed an impressive record, including two major championships. His recent surgery typically involves a three-month recovery, and he announced on February 10 that he’s fully cleared for golf activities.
Despite the surgery, Thomas remains a formidable presence in the golf world. He was ranked No. 8 globally when he revealed his ongoing hip issues, and he currently holds the No. 14 spot. As Atlanta Drive’s main alternate, Chris Gotterup has stepped up this season, but Thomas's return is sure to bolster the team’s chances as they stand at 2-1.
With his competitive spirit and proven track record, Thomas’s return is set to be a thrilling chapter in his career. Golf fans should keep an eye on his performance as he steps back onto the course.
