Ireland Stunned as Quartet Misses Cut at Little Venice Open

Irish golfers struggle to make the cut at the Red Sea Little Venice Open, as Dutchman Lars Keunen leads the field with an impressive performance.

Just days after celebrating a one-two finish at the Ein Bay Open, Ireland's golf contingent faced a tougher challenge at the Alps Tour’s Little Venice Open in Egypt, with all four missing the cut.

Sam Murphy, who had dazzled on his professional debut at Sokhna Golf Club, found himself grounded this week. Despite his best efforts, consecutive rounds of 71 left him three strokes shy of the five-under-par cut.

Robert Moran, who had been nipping at Murphy's heels as the runner-up last week, couldn’t maintain his momentum. After a promising 67 in the first round, a 76 in the next left him at one-under, just missing the mark.

Hugh Foley from Royal Dublin delivered steady rounds of 70 and 74, but it wasn’t enough to progress past level par. Meanwhile, Cathal MacCanna struggled with rounds of 78 and 75, marking his second consecutive week missing the final round.

Leading the pack was the Netherlands’ Lars Keunen, who built on an impressive 65 with a six-under 66, putting him at 13 under and a shot ahead of Spain’s Agusti Quinquilla and Josep Maria Serra Busquet.
