If you’re dreaming of being part of the Ryder Cup without shelling out €450 a day for a ticket, there’s another way to get in on the action - and it might just put you at the heart of one of golf’s biggest stages.
The 2027 Ryder Cup, set for September 13-19 at the stunning Adare Manor in County Limerick, is already shaping up to be a landmark event. It’s the centenary edition of the tournament, and it’ll mark just the second time Ireland has hosted the biennial showdown between Europe and the U.S., the first being at the K Club back in 2006. This time, the spotlight is even brighter - and the opportunity to be part of it is wide open.
Volunteer applications are officially live, and the European Tour Group is looking to fill around 2,000 roles. There are two main ways to get involved: as a traditional on-course Marshal or in a new role called an “Ambassador,” which focuses on elevating the fan experience across the venue.
Let’s break down what that means.
Marshals are the familiar faces you see lining the fairways, helping with crowd control, maintaining order, and ensuring that players can focus while fans stay safe and informed. Ireland already has a strong network of experienced Marshals thanks to its history of hosting major international golf events, and organizers are hoping to draw from that pool - while also welcoming new faces who want to be part of something special.
The Ambassador role, meanwhile, is a bit of a fresh twist. These volunteers will be posted at key touchpoints - think transport hubs, course entrances, and high-traffic areas like the Fan Village.
Their mission? Make the Ryder Cup experience as smooth, welcoming, and memorable as possible for the thousands of fans expected to descend on Adare Manor from all over the world.
No golf expertise required here - just a friendly face, a helpful attitude, and a willingness to be part of something bigger.
Kit Gartrell, the Ryder Cup Event Delivery Director at the European Tour Group, put it plainly: “The 2027 Ryder Cup will be the biggest sporting event that Ireland has ever staged and the world will be watching.” And based on the early interest - over 24,000 people have already expressed interest in volunteering - it’s clear the excitement is building.
Applications are open now and will close on April 1, 2026. Those who’ve already registered interest will be contacted directly by Ryder Cup Europe to complete their applications. Final selections will be announced in August 2026, with role-specific details to follow in November.
Whether you’re guiding fans to the right shuttle, helping someone find their seat, or holding the line on the 18th fairway as the winning putt drops, volunteering at the Ryder Cup isn’t just about seeing the action - it’s about being part of the story. And with the centenary edition set against the backdrop of one of Ireland’s most iconic golf venues, this is one for the memory books.
So if you’ve ever wanted to say, “I was there,” now’s your chance - not just to witness history, but to help shape it.
