Warriors Stunned as Bucks Demand Young Stars for Giannis Trade

Despite their keen interest in Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Warriors face major hurdles in meeting the Bucks' steep demands, as Milwaukee holds out for younger stars.

The Golden State Warriors are eyeing Giannis Antetokounmpo, but there’s a catch. The Milwaukee Bucks are holding out for a package that includes young, promising talent-something the Warriors currently lack.

According to insider reports, the Bucks have their sights set on players like VJ Edgecombe from the 76ers or Evan Mobley from the Cavaliers. Unfortunately for Golden State, they don't have anyone in that mold, even with Jonathan Kuminga in the mix.

While the Warriors have the draft picks, they’re missing the youthful star power Milwaukee craves. This could be a stumbling block in their pursuit of the 31-year-old superstar. However, the offseason is still young, and if Giannis does hit the trade market, the Warriors might find a way to make their offer more enticing.

Milwaukee’s co-owner, Wes Edens, has made it clear: Antetokounmpo will either sign an extension or be traded. With the Bucks missing the play-in tournament, a trade seems possible, but Milwaukee could also use their lottery pick to either draft a future star or bring in veteran help. Giannis staying in Wisconsin remains a real possibility.

For the Warriors, missing out on Giannis might not be the worst outcome. Their season has been marred by injuries, and adding another aging star with a history of injuries might not be the best move, even for someone of Antetokounmpo's caliber.

Milwaukee’s asking price for Giannis was reportedly sky-high before the trade deadline, possibly as a strategy to gauge interest. With him entering the final guaranteed year of his contract, the Bucks might not fetch the haul they desire. This could open a window for the Warriors, but unless they can offer a top young player, they might fall short in the bidding war.
