Warriors Stun Fans: Porzingis Out, Moody Shines, What's Next for Curry?

With Porzingis and Green out, Moody shines bright while Curry's return remains uncertain for the Warriors.

The Warriors got a taste of the Kristaps Porzingis rollercoaster on Sunday. Recently acquired at the trade deadline, Porzingis was expected to be a key piece against the Nuggets, especially to counter the formidable Nikola Jokic. However, plans took a turn when Porzingis was a late scratch due to illness, leaving Coach Steve Kerr to adjust on the fly after also losing Draymond Green shortly before the game.

Kerr shared, “I got a text this morning that he was sick and at the hotel. He’s pretty sick.” This unexpected absence was a reminder of the unpredictability that sometimes accompanies Porzingis.

Despite the setback, the Warriors found a silver lining in Moses Moody, who has been seizing his opportunities with both hands. Against Denver, Moody put up an impressive 23 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Since January, he’s been averaging 13.1 points per game, showcasing his growth and consistency. Kerr couldn’t hold back his praise, highlighting Moody’s defensive prowess, shooting confidence, and steady performances.

“He’s been brilliant for six weeks,” Kerr noted. “He’s maybe been our most consistent performer.”

Meanwhile, the Warriors continue to navigate the absence of Stephen Curry, sidelined with what’s being called runner’s knee. The lack of a definitive return date has been a source of frustration for both the team and fans.

Curry is set to be reevaluated on March 1, leaving at least another week without their star. Curry himself emphasized the long-term focus, saying, “We all know the goal is to be healthy come play-in or playoff time.

We just want to get in a playoff series and have a chance.”

As the Warriors juggle these challenges, they’re keeping their eyes on the ultimate prize: a healthy roster ready to make a playoff push.
